About the Authors

Robert Collier (1885–1950) was born in St. Louis, Missouri. His mother died when he was quite young, and his father traveled widely for Collier’s Magazine, which was founded and published by his uncle, Peter F. Collier. Robert was expected to become a priest, but before taking his vows, he decided against the life of a clergyman and headed off to seek his fortune. Collier became involved in Christian Science and, after conquering a mysterious illness his doctors had seemed powerless to stop he began to hypothesize that the mind might also have power over financial maladies. He put this idea into action, publishing The Secret of the Ages and Riches within Your Reach which has been translated into German, Italian, French, and Spanish, and sold all over the world.

Napoleon Hill (1883–1970) was born in a one-room cabin in Pound, Virginia. He began his writing career at age thirteen as a reporter for small-town newspapers and went on to become America’s most beloved motivational author. His Think and Grow Rich is the all-time bestseller in its field, having sold millions of copies worldwide, and setting the standard for today's motivational thinking. In 1962, he established the Napoleon Hill Foundation to further his teachings about leadership, self-motivation, and individual achievement.

Joseph Murphy, PhD, DD (1898–1981) was a world-renowned authority on mind dynamics and author of numerous bestselling books. His ability to provide practical techniques that anyone can use as a tool for physical, social, economic, and spiritual self-improvement gained him a loyal worldwide following of millions. He wrote, taught, counseled, and lectured to thousands over a fifty-year career. He was the minister-director of the Church of Divine Science in Los Angeles for twenty-eight years, where his lectures were heard by thousands every week. Among his dozens of books are The Power of Your Subconscious Mind, Think Yourself Rich, Believe in Yourself, and many others. A renowned authority on mysticism and mind dynamics, his work continues to influence followers worldwide.

Wallace D. Wattles (1860–1911) was born in the United States in 1860, shortly before the Civil War. Later in life, he began his tireless study of the religious beliefs and philosophies of the world. It was through this relentless examination of such philosophers as Descartes, Hegel, and Ralph Waldo Emerson that he developed his own principles and successfully applied them to his life before he shared them with the world in his innovative 1910 book, The Science of Getting Rich. He died one year later. Wattles ideas have lived on to inspire future generations to greatness.
