Publisher Description

It is summer in the Northwest town of Nine Mile Falls, and sixteen-year-old Ruby McQueen, ordinarily dubbed The Quiet Girl, finds herself hanging out with gorgeous, rich, thrill-seeking Travis Becker. But Ruby is in over her head, and finds she is risking more and more when she’s with him. In an effort to keep Ruby occupied, Ruby’s mother, Ann, drags Ruby to the weekly book club she runs. When it is discovered that one of the group’s own members is the subject of the tragic love story they are reading, Ann and Ruby spearhead a reunion between the long-ago lovers. But for Ruby, this mission turns out to be much more than just a road trip. . . .

"Very engaging, and fundamental as I took a step into Ruby's situation. Is it the person that makes you love them, or is it what they possess that draws you towards them. True intentions are revealed and a false pretense of love fades away as the truth unravels. "

" I read this book some while back for a review for our school paper. Or at least I think I did. Anyway what I remember most is that at the time I had experienced a relationship like the one depicted in the book. And what I remember is how accurate the portrayal was. How real the struggle was in the book. But what makes it real is what made it horrible for me. I felt the pain I felt the love and betrayal of lover and self. Caletti hits the nail on the head and that's why I couldn't stop reading because I was hoping that soon, Ruby's struggles would end. "

" I'm glad I stuck with this book...a very slow starter (I would have left the first six chapters and original plot out) but it grew on me and made for a fun vacation read...if a bit disjointed. "
