Eric Murray, the youngest of his brothers, is determined to gain his rightful inheritance after thirteen years of bitter dispute with his father's family. Starting out alone to confront his tight-fisted kinsmen, he encounters a chestnut-haired beauty set upon by thieves. When she begs for Eric's protection for herself and her infant nephew, Eric promises to deliver them to the safety of her family.
Bethia Drummond has tried desperately to ignore her attraction to the azure-eyed stranger. Still, Eric Murray is Bethia's only hope of escaping her ruthless kin who plan to kill her and her orphaned nephew, and claim their inherited land. Then Bethia learns that Eric, too, is seeking land and coin from his own kin—her family's closest allies. How could she love a man she might one day be forced to stand against? And yet she cannot ignore what her troubled heart knows—that this proud knight is her very destiny.

"Very good read. These characters had a lot of depth and the emotions translated so clearly from the pages to me as I read. You can't help but root for Bethia and Eric, who both have many obstacles to overcome but still manage to find love. I think that helps is a great extended cast of characters."

“Those who enjoy Ms. Howell’s exuberant writing style and a well-drawn Scottish setting should not miss Highland Promise.”
— RT Book Reviews (4 stars)" it was a little sloww getting in too but then when it picked up it was a great story and funny "
— Darlene, 1/1/2014" A good read but as the third in the Murray trilogy, the story-line turned out to be EXACTLY like the first two. That was a little dissappointing. A twist would have been nice, even the hero saying "I love you" first would have been a change. "
— TJ, 12/31/2013" Loved Eric & Bethia's story. My only complaint was I wanted to smck em both for not admitting their feeling till the end, and how could Eric have his mouth all over her and not notice changes at 4 months of pregnancy? "
— Donna, 12/23/2013" Eric Murray and Bethia Drummond "
— Rebecca, 12/15/2013" I really liked this one as well--and was excited to read it when I realized it was the story of Gillyanne's (from Highland Bride) parents. "
— Jill, 12/5/2013" I was looking at the reviews and realized that a lot of people liked this book. I did too in a way, but it is not as entertaining as I thought. The story was ok, but it was a bit dull. "
— Maya, 9/30/2013" Loved Eric and Bethia's story! "
— Nicpref, 8/30/2013" I am quickly growing to enjoy Howell's writing style. Her characters are easily likeable or easy to hate. The accents in this book were not near as hard to read as the previous book by her that I read. Howell's book are quick and fun to read. "
— Olivia, 8/22/2013" Another good book by Hannah Howell. Bethia was a great and she need to stand up to her parents, they make you so mad. Couldn't wait for them to get want was coming to them. "
— Melanie, 8/20/2013" Adding to my books I've read. 2008 or earlier. "
— Sherri, 7/31/2013" once again a great book from hannah howell "
— Mumsgang, 7/30/2013" Love this genre. Good series. Love those sassy lassies. "
— Missy, 6/27/2013" This is the story of Eric Murray and Bethia Drummond. "
— Pam, 4/6/2013" A solid story, loved the romance but hated the self doubts on both sides. I thought Bethia's parents we're horrible. I couldn't believe how many times the villain managed to get away untraceable. "
— ♥, 2/2/2013" Fairly average for a historical romance. I am throwing this fish back into the water. Maybe it will garner us fifty cents at our garage sale. =) "
— Bradley, 12/21/2012" I read all of Ms Howell's books Back to Back to Back.. while this is a fun series I seriously do not recommend anyone doing so. The plots tend to be repetitious and run together. If you want to enjoy the Murray Clan, take your time.. there is much to enjoy just one at a time. "
