In the dramatic conclusion to the New York Times best seller Her Mother's Hope, Francine Rivers delivers a rich and deeply moving story about the silent sorrows that can tear a family apart and the grace and forgiveness that can heal even the deepest wounds. Growing up isn't easy for little Carolyn Arundel. With her mother, Hildemara, quarantined to her room with tuberculosis, Carolyn forms a special bond with her oma Marta, who moves in to care for the household. But as tensions between Hildie and Marta escalate, Carolyn believes she is to blame. When Hildie returns to work and Marta leaves, Carolyn and her brother grow up as latchkey kids in a world gripped by the fear of the Cold War. College offers Carolyn the chance to find herself, but a family tragedy shatters her newfound independence. Rather than return home, she cuts all ties and disappears into the heady counterculture of San Francisco. When she reemerges two years later, more lost than ever, she reluctantly turns to her family to help rebuild a life for her and her own daughter, May Flower Dawn. Just like Carolyn, May Flower Dawn develops a closer bond with her grandmother, Hildie, than with her mother, causing yet another rift between generations. But as Dawn struggles to avoid the mistakes of those who went before her, she vows that somehow she will be a bridge between the women in her family rather than the wall that separates them forever. Spanning from the 1950s to present day, Her Daughter's Dream is the emotional final chapter of an unforgettable family saga about the sacrifices every mother makes for her daughter-and the very nature of unconditional love.

"This is the second book of the two in this series, and I liked this one better than the first. Though it begins on a very depressing note with very mature themes, most of the book is about the resolution of generations of anger and misunderstanding. I'm not sure I would read this series again, but I am very glad I read it once."

“Best-seller Rivers completes the five-generation Christian family saga she began in Her Mother’s Hope…The concluding book in Rivers’ drama examines mother-daughter relationships in the context of faith, juxtaposed against a backdrop of world events.”
— Booklist“Rivers has written another page-turner.”
— Publishers Weekly“Both engrossing and emotionally satisfying. The reader forms an intimate bond with the characters and will come to care what happens to them. The sweeping time period from the 1950s through the present day allows the reader to engage personally in the amazing narrative.”
— RT Book Reviews (4½ stars)" What an amazing book!! I would definitely recommend this two part story to anyone! 24 hours and i'm finished already! The way Francine brought her families experiences in to this story was fantastic. "
— Lyndsey, 1/29/2014" Love, love this book and especially this author!!! I love everything she writes, she is so GIFTED!!!!! "
— Candace, 1/29/2014" I think I enjoyed this one even more than the first. I think if it were 4 separate books, it would have slowed the pace down in some spots. I felt there were some parts that went by too fast, and could have used more detail. Other parts dragged on for me. Overall, a very good story with a sad but hopeful outcome. "
— Cheryl, 1/21/2014" Not as good as Her Mother's Hope. "
— Tina, 1/12/2014" Must read the first one to fully appreciate the characters in their entirety. Beautiful story. "
— Brooke, 1/11/2014" As always Francine Rivers does not disappoint. This book is the second and last in the series about mothers and daughters. It was great even though I bawled at the end. "
— Amy, 1/7/2014" Didn't like this one as much as the first, but still very interesting look at miscommunication and relationships in families. "
— Andrea, 1/7/2014" Just like book #1 this was awesome! Full of grace and mercy! I could not put it down. What a wonderful series! "
— Shannon, 12/4/2013" Liked the second book better than the first "
— Sierra, 11/4/2013" oh my goodness i can't say enough good things about this book and the one before it. it was heart wrenching and gripping and amazing. i fell in love with all of the characters and was captivated by it all. so incrediably good "
— Jennifer, 10/23/2013" Historical, Autobiographical fiction. Continuing family saga of mother/daughter relationships, the men in their lives. Excellent, read it! "
— Doris, 10/19/2013" The author's writing style is very average, at best. She usually has great storylines, but her writing could use a little help. Her short, basic sentences are distracting! "
— Shannon, 10/13/2013" Love these books, although I enjoyed the first more... "
— Karyn, 9/23/2013" God has really used this Book to help me understand my own relationship with my mom...A MUST READ!!! "
— Martha, 8/19/2013" AMAZING book! You might want to keep the tissues handy. I loved both books in this series and as this second book came to a close, I hated to say good-bye to these characters I had grown to love! "
— Michelle, 6/16/2013" Very interesting character development and interplay between a mother, daughter, and granddaughter. So often we believe we are sure we know what others think and totally misunderstand one another's love and intentions. "
— Anita, 3/26/2013" What an awesome book!!! I laughed, I sobbed. "
— Linda, 9/27/2012" It was a bit soppy in parts but overall a nice conclusion to the first part (though I like the first part better, the story around the turn of the century was just more interesting). "
— Muphyn, 9/10/2012" Amazing story that spans generations of mothers and daughters "
— Karina, 2/22/2012" Liked this book. Not near the book that the first one was. The characters seemed contrived compared to the other, and the faith crises were more difficult to read because it felt less authentic and more contrived. But Francine Rivers is always fun to read! "
— Jamie, 1/31/2012" The sequel to Her Mother's Hope. Just as good as the first, except for a little bit of sadness thrown in. But the resolution of one mother/daugher conflict makes up for the sadness. "
— Ann, 1/26/2012" I liked this one better than the first, but you need to read both. The legacy of pain and heartache we start and end because of pride, not having the gospel, and then having the gospel is so real. It only took the Israelites one generation to forsake their first love... "
— Sara, 1/15/2012" This is the continuation of Marta's story. Very good. "
— Pen, 12/30/2011" The second of her roots books. "
— Renda, 11/17/2011" One of Francine Rivers' best!! This two book series rivals Redeeming Love in quality of writing. Francine at her best! "
— Juanita, 5/12/2011" Ties up the characters in the first book and made sense of the odd relationships and why the happened. "
— Janet, 5/9/2011" Loved this book! It was as good as the first one - very well written, interesting characters, great story-line! I do wish that Carolyn would have opened up before her father's and grandmother's passings. But of course, I didn't write this book and it still made for an amazing read! "
— Laurie, 5/6/2011" This is the continuation of Marta's story. Very good. "
— Pen, 5/3/2011" The book is a sequal to Her Mother's Hope. I had high expectations. It all went well until the last 1/3 of the book. Just read this book and learn everything that happened in the first book. "
— Marilyn, 4/29/2011" Loved it! A completely addicting series. "
— Rebekkah, 4/20/2011" Couldn't put it down. See my review on the first one. Very similar, with more closure and greater hope. "
— Susie, 4/19/2011" Francine Rivers is becoming one of my new favorite authors. I really liked this series, reading it around mother's day makes me grateful for the strong lineage of women that I come from! :)
"

— Ashleigh, 4/8/2011" I would give this book 6 stars if that were an option. I just loved it! I couldn't put it down.. took me about 2 days to read.
The story is just beautiful. Even brought tears to my eyes a few times. =) "
— Angie, 3/23/2011" The characters were deep and believable. The settings felt real. Great story telling. "
