Publisher Description

The science fiction epic of our time has arrived.Three years ago, an object one hundred miles across was spotted on a trajectory for Earth's sun. Now, its journey is almost over. As it approaches, two competing manned vehicles race through almost half a million kilometers of space to reach it first. But when they both arrive on the entity, they learn that it has been sent toward Earth for a reason. An intelligent race is desperately attempting to communicate with our primitive species. And the message is: Help us.

"Very good and fast read (4 1/2 stars). I'm not sure I believe some of the physics (e.g. Keanu' Earth's orbit insertion) and plausibility of some of the human behaviors and interactions (general nonchalance exhibited but some of the characters) but I have enjoyed this book very much. "

" I wasn't sure what to expect going into this book. It satisfied my desire for a good Sci-Fi adventure by giving all the elements I have expected in one. "

" Fairly straightforward story about two separate missions to a near earth object... And the complications that arise...as well as other surprises that take it from fiction with science to science fiction. I really enjoyed it. Quick read, interesting characters and story. I look forward to book 2 "

" I found myself wanting to like this more. In the end it was all a bit... meh. It felt like the authors wanted to say more but also wanted to cash in on sequels so kept stalling the ending. I may be tempted to pick up the next in the series (though at a discounted price if available). "

" Very NASA technical and a decent read, until the aliens turned out to be dead people... I finished it with hope only to find that of corse there is a part to instead of a satisfying conclusion. Not sure how I feel about that. "

" I was a little concerned about the literary merit of this book when I saw that the authors were television writers. It's a pretty good book however reminding me a lot of Rendezvous with Rama by Arthur C Clarke. Any book that can compare with one of Clarke's is quite a good read by my standards. "
