"This is one of my favorite books ever. Hawkes Harbor is amazing for teens and even adults. It has profanity, sex, action, adventure, fantasy, and much more. It is a very thrilling books and it has an incredible twist in it. Very enjoyable by book by S.E. Hinton. "

" I found the book moved along to slow. It was not a kind of book I would normally read, but it was not bad. I personnaly like more action in a vampire book. "
— Laura, 2/18/2014" I love S.E. Hinton's novels. They're all terrific. This one's my least favorite (I always have preferred YA to Adult books) but it wasn't necessarily a bad book. "
— Devon, 2/10/2014" Or, the author of The Outsiders and Rumble Fish adapts the old late 60's/early 70's vampire soap opera Dark Shadows into a novel. For some reason. I enjoyed this mostly as a fan of the soap, never having read any of Hinton's famed books. This installment focuses on the Willie Loomis character (here named Jamie) and his relationship with bloodsucker Barnabas (here named Grenville). I think someone must've ran into some copyright issues? Anyway, if Hinton ever writes more in the series, I'm on board, esp. if she brings the witch Angelique into the mix. She could call her...I dunno, Marguerite? Fun stuff, perfect for Dark Shadows acolytes needing a quick read for airline travel, etc. "
— Robert, 2/4/2014" The best Dark Shadows fan fic I've ever read! Finally some respect for Jason & Willie (uh, I mean "Jamie & Kellen"!) The ending made me cry and NOTHING usually makes me cry. "
— Jill, 1/24/2014" Had a kind of young adult fiction feel to it, probably because the author is known for writing only that. Bland writing and strange plot (not in the good way). Disappointing in every level. "
— Suvi, 1/15/2014" SE Hinton also wrote The Outsiders - and is a fantastic writer. This one is a little disturbing at times but keeps evolving in ways that are unexpected. A definite page turner. "
— Katie, 1/1/2014" This book was just really strange and all over the place. Totally different than what I expected, and not in a good way. I wouldn't bother with this one. "
— Jacque, 12/31/2013" A surprisingly hopeful and very inspiring book. "
— Jenni, 12/29/2013" Didn't like it as much as the ones I read in junior high... "
— Heather, 12/23/2013" I loved this adult novel, centering on a young man who lives the life of a juvenile delinquent, a South Seas Sailor beset by pirates, and eventually falls in league with a subtle stoic vampire. Amazing fiction. "
— Michele, 12/18/2013" This must have been really bad because I never leave notes to myself unless something was awful. "
