The Gump phenomenon continues!

Forrest Gump is back!

The lovable man for all ages, who captured America's heart in the #1 bestselling novel Forrest Gump and in the blockbuster film, returns in the long-awaited sequel to the book hailed by Larry King as "the funniest novel I have ever read." A little older, and wiser in his own unique way, he is still running through the kaleidoscopic events of our times -- and straight into the age of greed and instant gratification known as the 1980s.

When Gump & Co. begins, the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. has gone bust and Forrest is flat broke, sweeping floors in a New Orleans strip joint and trying to raise his son, little Forrest, who needs his father more than ever. As always in Forrest's easy-come-easy-go life, a change in the weather is never far off...and when the opportunity to play championship football comes his way once more, Forrest is back in the limelight and in the money.

Forrest's remarkable, touching, and utterly comic odyssey has just begun: in store for him is his own dubious recipe for adding life to New Coke; an encounter with Ollie North; and a chance yet again to unwittingly twist the nose of history.

The rollicking sequel to the # 1 New York Times bestseller Forrest Gump.

" GAGAL! Yah.. Winston Groom gagal mengulangi kesuksesan Forrest Gump di sekuelnya ini. Ceritanya hanya lanjutan tanggung dan pengulangan demi pengulangan dari pola novel pertama. Tapi meskipun begitu ceritanya masih lumayan lucu. "

" The first book was witty, fun to read and they made a movie out of it you either hated or liked. Then came the academy awards where it won a slew of Oscars and not one member of the cast and crew thanked the author for whom this movie would never have ever been created. So, in a fit of pique (or so it's said), he wrote a sequel vowing to make it completely impossible to film. The result was a mess with little to no plot or pacing and to fit as many events and incidents as possible to the point of unreadable. Every other page Gump gets into another adventure or incident, leaving the previous predicament he was in making you wondering what the hell happened. Awful, awful book. "

" how disappointing. i absolutely loved the first gump book which i read a week ago or so. it was so diff, fresh and fun that i really enjoyed it. i got this book afterward to read the sequel of sorts to it. this book stunk. i didn't even get halfway into it and just quit. closed it and removed the bookmark. just dumb. like trying to recreate a moment that just doesn't work. groom tries so hard to get back into the writing and story groove of the first book but it never happens. spotty and jumping around the book is a mess. highly recommend the first and highly recommend staying clear of the second. dangit "

" It's a fast an easy read. I think the author saw a way to make an easy buck after the first one was made into a movie so why not write a sequel. "

" Gump and Co. is the logical follow up to Forrest Gump. It's a hella funny read and sheds light on how the so-called serious life can easily turn into a comedy...which most of the time it actually goes back and forth..around and around! "

" Hilarious! I recommend this to anyone a fan of the movie. Or the book obviously! Forrest get's his hands dirty with Lt. Dan, invents New Coke, literally bring shit down on a sleepy little down, rubs shoulders with Jim Bakker, Oliver North, and even Tom Hanks! "

" Very rarely is a movie better than the book, but it is in this case.

There is nothing wrong with the book, it's humourous and moves along very quickly, in fact, it took less time to read than to watch the movie!

I happily look forward to reading other things by this author. "

This book just does not have a chance with the movie adaptation. The movie and the book are SO different from one another.

It was, however, a very easy read.
