Randy Wayne White has long been known for suspenseful plots, complex characters, and an extraordinary sense of place. His new series has them all—and then some.
Hannah Smith: a tall, strong, formidable Florida woman, the descendant of generations of strong Florida women. She makes her living as a fishing guide, but her friends, neighbors, and clients also know her as an uncommonly resourceful woman with a keen sense of justice—someone who can’t be bullied—and they have taken to coming to her with their problems.
Her methods can be unorthodox, though, and those on the receiving end of them often wind up very unhappy—and sometimes very violent. And when a girl goes missing, and Hannah is asked to find her, that is exactly what happens. . . .

"Very much enjoyed the book. Hannah smith is an intriguing character, which is what I require in my reading. Enough going on to keep you involved in the story. I will be looking forward to see how White develops her in future novels."

“In his Doc Ford novels, Randy Wayne White plumbs the shallows of the Gulf waters and the depths of the human heart. But in his newest thriller, Gone, he gives us Hannah Smith, a gutsy new heroine to root for, and a plot that crackles with the electricity of a Florida thunderstorm. Gone won’t be long forgotten.”
— P. J. Parrish, author of the New York Times bestselling Louis Kincaid series“Gone illustrates that White is constantly sharpening his storytelling arsenal.”
— Sun Sentinel“As always with a White novel, the writing is solid, the maritime setting is vividly drawn, and the plot ripples with danger and suspense…Hannah is an intriguing character who has the makings of a solid series character in her own right.”
— Huffington Post" maybe ok new series, think I'd like to try previous about her uncle. Liked the Florida location. "
— Lynda, 2/9/2014" Not as good as the Dr. Ford series, but okay. "
— Dixie, 2/8/2014" Enjoyable enough read. I wasn't previously familiar with Randy Wayne White. Not sure I would read another book unless it sounded interesting enough "
— Katie, 1/31/2014" OK, but not a good as the Doc Ford series. I think White was trying too hard to "write like a woman." Doc Ford and the Rum Bar do show up in the story. Maybe the second in the series will be better. Not terrible, just not compelling. "
— Jeanette, 1/28/2014" This is a silly book and not on par with Whites other books. A waste of time. "
— Jean, 1/10/2014" Not bad, new character, new series. I like the story playing around Ft. Myers, Captiva island, nothing special but still an entertaining read. "
— Martin, 12/28/2013" Not as good as a regular Doc Ford novel, but not bad. "
— Karen, 12/25/2013" Stick with Doc Ford and forget about Haannah! This is not up to par for this author. White is too much of a man's man to get into the head of a woman. "
— Diane, 12/15/2013" A new character in the Doc Ford series...what's not to like? "
— Eunice, 12/1/2013" Could not get into this one at all. "
— Jaime, 11/21/2013" I enjoy reading about Randys knowledge of the Gulf Coast of Florida, but in this book, the character is not well developed, the story is iffy also. I would like to see how he develops Hannah Smiths character. I really enjoyed reading his Doc Ford mysteries. "
— Makduda, 8/29/2013" Listened to the audio. The story is okay, but this really dragged. It could have been so much better! "
— Kathryn, 7/4/2013" I did enjoy the mystery story in thus book but i didnt love the way the female character of hannah was written. You can definitely tell she was written by a man. "
— Stacey, 3/23/2013" Pretty good. Hannah will be a good private eye. "
— Virginia, 3/17/2013" I like this author and have read all Thea Doc Ford books. I like that he has introduced a new character. I would read the next one in this series but don't if I'm sold yet. Stay tuned. "
— Joan, 2/19/2013" Very good book. I like this new main character! Hope to see more of her. "
— Diane, 12/2/2012" A good adventure with a new leading character Hanna Smith. Enjoyed this as I do this Doc Ford series. "
