"I really liked this book. I loved the characters, with the exception of the grandfather, who was just plain evil. I really didn't like how everyone just accepted what he did like they had no choice. That brought the rating down a bit but still an enjoyable read."

" Not her best, wasn't convinced that the love story got the attention it deserved. Plot over-reached and as a result was never fully developed. She did, however, capture an honest portrayal Alyssa, the character who grew up torn between being half-Chinese and half-American. Shades of Amy Tan and the Joy Luck Club, but again, underdeveloped plot. "
