"One of the reasons I chose this book, was because I loved reading it in High School. I found out the more I read, the more I continued to not want to set the book down. Reading it once again I loved it that much more, Griets life is sad, but then gets turned around for the better. This is one of my favorite Historical Fiction books."

— Robin, 1/28/2014" I read this one a couple years ago when I spotted it in the new "Best sellers" section at the local bookstore. i was bored, browsing, and I admit it, I was drawn in ( no pun intended) by the cover and title. Unfortunately, I found this one to be a huge disappointment of the "Are you kidding me?!!" at the end variety. Skip it. "
— Connie, 1/22/2014" The ending ruin the whole book. "

— Michelin, 9/12/2012" A wonderful story. Kept my attention from start to finish. Read if historical lit is your thing. "
— Angela, 9/8/2012" Of course I love historical fiction. This one was heart wrenching because of the main character's struggles. In those earlier times options weren't great for women, especially if they came from a family with little finanicial resources. "
— Julia, 5/4/2012" For the last few years I have held back on reading this novel, thinking it was not something I would enjoy. I loved it. The main character is amazing and the way the story evolves throughout is intriguing. Definitely a great read. "

— Ellie, 5/22/2011" Love this book! It was awesome! "
— Lynnphotos84, 5/22/2011" Started and finished that book in one evening.
The way the author builds that very fragile relationship between Vermeer and the Girl ist a masterpiece.
Loved it! "
— Marina, 5/21/2011" I tend to like reimagined "history" and this one regarding the real inspiration of one of Vermeer's most famous paintings is very engrossing to read. "
— Kristina, 5/19/2011" Seems I keep stumbling upon books with the theme of young girls seeking married men. The book is well written and interesting, except I was disappointed to find that the young girl had fallen in love with the husband of the woman she was a servant to. "
— Tanya, 5/19/2011" Whilst well written, I found it inaccessible. I'm going to chalk this up to my lack of historical knowledge, which compromised my understanding of certain aspects of the tale. It did have some beauitful imagery however. "
— Casey, 5/19/2011" Un bel romanzo storico, scritto molto bene... se solo la protagonista non fosse così antipatica! "

— Sarah, 5/17/2011" Some will be turned off by the simple prose, but I found the book charming and sensual. It also helps that Girl with a Pearl Earring is my favorite painting in the world, and, the Girl looks almost exactly like my first girlfriend when I was 15. "
— Keifario, 5/17/2011" Beautifully written. Definitely one of my favorite novels. "
— Kim, 5/16/2011" Exquisite story about the mysterious girl in Vermeer's famous painting. Extremely insightful to Dutch life in this time period and incredible characterizations. "
