"I referred this to my dad, since he's former military and a Jim Butcher fan, and this hits both of those sweet spots. I liked this better than the first one. I think, like with all first books, the writer was able to look back, assess what they would have done ever so slightly differently, and tweaked the style going forward. Since the world-building was firmly established in the first book, he was able to avoid some of the pacing issues it had. In addition, as protagonists go, I liked Bookbinder somewhat better than Britton. He spent a lot less time waffling around about what to do, and more time doing it."

“[An] action-filled adventure.”
— Publishers Weekly“Highly entertaining.”
— Kirkus Reviews" Very nice sequel to "Control Point". I read this in one day, and found the writing more reassured and the characters a bit more fleshed out than in the first part. Still can't believe though, that Military Fantasy is now a genre. "
— Michael, 2/19/2014" loved it. could not put it down. "
— Michael, 2/17/2014" I read this book after reading the high ratings given. Everyone has his own view, but, I would say that I was slightly disappointed by the book. The action is more from the world of DC comics and does lack substance. However, it must be said that the concept of military magic is interesting and can be further explored. I will wait for his next book before having a firm view. "
— Rajeev, 2/10/2014" Myke Cole is to military fantasy as David Drake is to military Scifi. I can't wait for the next book to come out. "
— Shawn, 2/9/2014" Another great book in the series. Cole does a wonderful job of building incredible world. Is story has some great person turns and hold your attention all the way through. I'm looking for another book in the series as soon as you can write it. "
— Brian, 2/6/2014" I thought the first book in this series was fantastic, but this latest installment took it to a whole new level. Fortress Frontier took everything that made Control Point so badass and managed to flesh it out and improve upon it. This is military fantasy of the highest quality. "
— Cliff, 1/20/2014" Very enjoyable ride. Looking forward to the next in this series. "
— Devin, 11/27/2013" A wonderful book. The best compliment I can give a book or story is that I wish it were longer. Now that I finished, I eagerly await the next book in the series. "
— Chris, 11/9/2013" I enjoyed this book. Not as much moaning and brow beating for a start. And you can't beat a good battle at the end. "

— Lori, 3/19/2013" Great sequel to an excellent trilogy. Series. Whatever. I like it when a world is set up and then as books progress, we switch to a different POV to get a completely different look at things. "
