Myke Cole is an expert at ratcheting up suspense and delivering pulse-pounding adventure that leaves audiences breathless. In Shadow Ops: Control Point, the world has seemingly gone mad. People are waking up with magical powers, such as the ability to raise the dead or call forth storms. The only thing staving off a plunge into chaos is the Supernatural Operations Corps, headed by Oscar Britton. But when Oscar exhibits a power of his own, the hunter becomes the hunted.

"Control point did not fail to amaze. It's fast paced and succinct, though not lacking in description. The characters aren't your ordinary fill-ins and you can tell every person in the story has their distinct motivations. For Britton, at first it's escape, then acceptance, followed by betrayal and anger. Control Point provides a great deal of insight into the military and the world is magnificently unique. The concept of latents, selfers and the Source is brilliant and you can tell that there is much more to come from the subtle hints dropped by Myke Cole. I'd recommend this to all fantasy readers, not just military-fiction fans."

“In Cole’s vision of near-future America, magic and superpowers have become a terrifying and often lethal feature of everyday life…Though clearly a debut, the novel shows promise; the rather Spartacusesque protagonist is not an infallible combat machine but a man who is able to learn from his errors, and Cole’s apparent disapproval of state-sanctioned brutality, slavery, and torture even in the face of possible existential threats is a welcome novelty in the era of 24.”
— Publishers Weekly“A debut by a former military officer that will attract readers who like their urban fantasies with more of a military edge.”
— Library Journal" A cross between the X-Men and a military story, Control Point had great characters and an interesting plot. "
— Victoria, 2/9/2014" It's got some gun-toting wizards on the front cover, and that's the most interesting part. "
— Seth, 1/28/2014" Pleasantly surprising. Review to come. "
— Kirsty, 1/7/2014" Interesting take on magic, but maybe just a bit too heavy on government conspiracies. "
— Ruth, 1/7/2014" Very fast paced.... so fast that I'm not entirely sure what was going on in the end. I'm definitely interested to read the next book in the series. "
— Chuck, 12/31/2013" Solid debut. I am hooked. "
— Hawalee, 12/6/2013" 3.5 stars. Decent quick read "
— Brian, 12/3/2013" A great read. I heartily recommend it to anyone interested in a new take on modern fantasy. "
— Cwsmythe, 7/3/2013" read it, loved it. want the next one. "
— Shiloh, 4/26/2013" Another pulpy sci-fi/fantasy mashup but a decent read.. "
— David, 2/19/2013" Jam-packed with action, magic and all-around thrill ride. Definitely will join my ranks as an author to keep track of! "
— Kristina, 1/21/2013" Entertaining. Interesting to see a much more militaristic approach to science fiction. It reads a lot like Tom Clancy writing an X-Men reboot. A very quick read. "
— Josh, 10/26/2012" Usually books like this are right up my alley. I love military sci-fi so was looking forward to a different take with a military paranormal. I couldn't connect with Oscar and while I didn't actively dislike him I was kind of ambivalent about him. It all went downhill from there. "
