" Started listening to it, then after the bad recording I finished it on the Nook. Nice descriptions of basic farming; wish we were closer to settling another body in space :( "

" A relatively regular coming-of-age story, this is a young adult book which shows what the current generation is missing out on. There is little new in this book, all are familiar elements but the themes and overall morality of the book still hold true. This is a book I would be happy to hand to a 14-16 year old as an introduction to real science fiction. "

" Another great space colonisation story from Heinlein. He always imagined such clever technical scenarios. If only he'd stuck to the hard stuff and stayed out of the pulpit! "

" good old space pioneer story but the end didn't fit into the theme of the book, it kind of bothered me. a more contemporary writer could really let this kind of book shine. "

" Despite its target of a juvenile audience, this was an enjoyably shallow read. Virtuous and frontiering, it's not got much in the way of grit and was probably an interesting magazine spread in the fifties. "

" This is one of four Heinlein novels that remain in my library. In thirty years I've found my tastes have changed and I don't like much of his work anymore. Yet I marked this particular book "good". "

" Good read, fun. Enjoyed the main character, the plot was simple yet enjoyable. Most of all, I really loved how he was able, from back in the late 40s, paint such a vivid picture of what the future would look like. "
