Bestselling author Nora Roberts dazzles once again with a powerful tale of passion, murder, and small-town scandal. In this classic novel, a woman returns to the home she left behind, to a past that is waiting to kill her.... A decade ago, sculptor Clare Kimball fled Emmitsboro, Maryland, to take the art world by storm. Now she’s celebrated as the artist of her generation. But no amount of success can eclipse the nightmares that haunt her—or the memories of her father’s suicide. Just as her star is shining brighter than ever, Clare leaves it all behind to face her demons. Emmitsboro sheriff Cameron Rafferty loved Clare from afar all through high school. Now that she’s back, they form a bond that grows stronger each day—fueled by an attraction that’s been simmering for years. But Clare’s past soon rises up with a vengeance, rocking the town with a sinister murder that is clearly linked to her return. As an investigation gets under way, Clare and Cameron will learn that evil can linger anywhere—even in those you love and trust the most. But it’s a discovery that may come too late to save them.…

"Perfect book for a schizo like me. I was on three squares when I read this. I wonder if my new med would make the reading experience worse. I'm on good a med now. I was injected with an expensive med called Invega with no explanation about side effects, only that the desired effect is calm. I drank some Michelob Ultra after watching Jagger (a Frenchman) beat Hansen (a Canadian) in a sailboat race. Restlessness crept through my veins from the spot of the injection. I felt the restlessness coursing through my body and I fought the active blood with food. I ate two large cabbage rolls and a hotdog. I tried laying flat and picking my body up with my full flexed stomach and felt my mind slipping to the fear of coagulating blood and restricted breathing. I called 911. They told me to go to the ER then I called a help line who also told me to visit the ER. Finally I spoke to a helpline with internet access and they told me not to drink with Invega. I figured as much after drinking four beers, taking a hit of pot, and feeling wiped out. I was about to wake up my brother when a knock at the door lead me in the other direction. I spoke with an officer outside in the cool night and he checked my pulse. At 68 I felt I was good to stay alive just maybe one toke over the line."
— Andrew (4 out of 5 stars)
" Much darker than I expected, but still a quality Nora Roberts. "
— Molly, 2/3/2014" I did not want this to end......Very good Book "
— Kim, 2/2/2014" Very chilling, if you like her Blood brothers triology, you will like this one too! It is more of a mystery than she usually writes and such suspense! kept me up half the night! "
— Sophia, 1/28/2014" This is a great book, but soem readers will be a little put out by some of the secondary story lines. I have read all of Nora Roberts books and so I rated all most all of them a 4, the 5's are reserved for my utmost favorites. "
— Genia, 1/19/2014" not nearly as much a romance novel as a suspense novel. "
— Chelsea, 1/16/2014" Overall, I liked this book! It was the abridged version of the audiobook and I wish that I had gotten the unabridged version. The ending was pretty good and creepy, though I did have my suspicions about the person from the beginning! "
— Amy, 1/14/2014" I didn't like this much. One of the few books Nora made that didn't quite connect with me. "
— Kumicho, 1/11/2014" This wasn't entirely typical romance. They didn't wait until the end to get it on, nor did it end with babies and marriage. And it was suitably creepy with the topic of Satanism... which also, not so typical romance. "
— Tory, 1/2/2014" As always, Nora provides an interesting read. The characters were well-rounded and the setting and the story couldn't be better. And of course, I've always admired how Nora comes up with the most amazing male leads in her stories. Loved it. "
— Saba, 12/26/2013" This was my first Nora Roberts book and I really enjoyed it very much. The plot was suspenseful and I enjoyed the interactions between Cam and Clare. "
— Cynthia, 12/12/2013" GAH!!!! It was a chore getting through this one. I feel like Roberts end here books the laziest way possible. There is no epilogue, no conclusion, no "here is what happened". They just stupidity end. And after dragging on and on and freaking on.... it would be nice to have a real ending. "
— Beanse, 11/22/2013" Another book from my grandmothers shelf. I haven't read too many Nora Roberts books, but I actually really enjoyed reading this one. "
— Cameo, 11/16/2013" Another well written story. Nora Roberts made my skin crawl with this one. "
— Elise, 11/7/2013" Not one of her better books. "
— Taylor, 11/3/2013" Not a dull moment, kept me entertained.. Counldnt put it down "
— Angela, 5/22/2013" Gave the chills! "
— Jennifer, 5/1/2013" I Loved it. Very old school Nora Roberts but with just the right amount of scare. The part that made me laugh was that everyone was smoking cigarettes through the whole thing. That would never be the case now. "
— Mandy, 4/27/2013" A thick book. Fast read. Well plotted, lots of action. No redeeming value except pure entertainment. "
— R., 3/18/2013" Dumb title but good book. Love Nora for strong character building. "
— Kari, 9/1/2012" Chilling. Nora Roberts is an excellent story teller. Divine Evil reminds us that we never truly know what's behind the even the everyday faces of the people we know. "
— Barb, 8/26/2012" This was darkkkk. But thats what i liked about it. "
— Natajia, 3/1/2012" It was very interesting-love,mystery ,murder but I don't like the ending. "
— КриÑтина, 2/16/2012" A little dark, but keeps your interest till the very end! "
— Shawn, 5/16/2011" I did not want this to end......Very good Book "
— Kim, 5/13/2011" Romance with a little bit of evil Satan worshipers thrown in. A good read, but not one of her best. "
— Bonnie, 5/2/2011" it was an amazing storie. i hope to read more of noras roberts books. it was so breath taking i couldent belive it. "
— Dulce, 4/22/2011" This was everything I was looking for in a romance novel. The relationship between Clare and Cam was utterly heartwarming. The plot was brilliantly paced. There were none of those dull moments. There was a great ending too.

Not much to fault, now converted to Nora Roberts! "
— Elaine, 4/15/2011" This was so good. Totally different than anything that I usually read. It was very dark and creepy, but wow! It was good. It stayed a page turner for me. I never got bored with the story. "

— Míriam, 4/2/2011" Loved it. Nora Roberts writes tales that suck you in and keep you enthralled until the story is over. For pure entertainment I don't think that she can be beat!! "
— Sally, 3/14/2011" This book was dark and mysterious and sucked me in almost immediately! I loved this book and all of the characters were easy to adore. If you like a good mystery, this is for you.. and you will never see these twists and turns coming :) "
— Corine, 3/10/2011" Non male, anche se in alcuni punti manca un po' di approfondimento psicologico dei personaggi.

"
