"Good story about a married couple. The husband is infamous and trying to rebuild his reputation. The wife is finally putting down roots after following her husband as he moves from location to location trying to better himself. The couple are married for a long time and the wife seems to have lost herself and is finally standing up for herself. The husband is getting his big break, but seemingly at the expense of his marriage. It ends well, that's all I'll say. The thing I didn't like is the author's 'poetic license' in describing the NFL life of the husband. But then most of you who will read this book probably won't even care. It's a good book."

" Kristin Hannah is probably one of my all time favorite authors. She has this amazing ability to pour her heart and soul into her characters and just make you fall in love with them. This book is no exception to that as the main woman, Elizabeth (or as everyone calls her Birdie), is such a moving and wonderful character that you instantly feel for her. Distant Shores takes you on a very emotional ride through one family's ups and downs and looks at a marriage that hasn't necessarily fallen apart, but isn't quite all there. It's truly a beautiful story. "
— Pamela, 2/20/2014" I really enjoyed this book. Kristin Hannah makes believable true to life characters that you really get to know. I am never disappointed when I read her books. "

— Sandie, 2/1/2014" Def not one of my favorites from Kristin Hannah. "
— Laura, 1/27/2014" Good reminder of how marriage can go stagnant, as well as how women can lose their personal identity in the everyday trenches of motherhood. "
— Ranae, 1/27/2014" One of her best books..... "
— Kim, 1/24/2014" I had never read any Kristan Hannah, so picked it up and read it in an afternoon. Predictable but an enjoyable read on a rainy day. Some people read mysteries to escape, I read these kind of books. Am sure I won't remember it in a month. "
— Barb, 1/23/2014" This was a okay book. It was different from the other books that I have read by this author. "
— Jessica, 1/18/2014" I enjoyed this book, but I must say, the author needs to research her sports. Collegiate swimmers do not wear noseplugs. "
— Lisa, 1/16/2014" I think the problem with this book is the fact that the characters are not that likable. I wasn't really concerned with what they were going through. "
— Rebecca, 1/9/2014" Another well written story. "
— Karen, 1/7/2014" This is a really good book about a couple that has been married for a long time and are struggling. It was interesting to read each side of the couple. "
— Debi, 1/4/2014" The one thing I enjoyed about this book was the POV of the husband. I thought she wrote his struggle well. Predictable & a bit stereotypical portrayal of an empty nester. "
— Denise, 12/27/2013" This is a story of an unraveling mariage. Elizabeth and Jackson Shore married young, raised two daughters and weathered the storms of youth as they built a family. This is a book that I could relate to ... They were able to reach out and become the people they want to be in the end. "

— Judy, 3/13/2011" SLOW...and I mean slow. I kept on glancing back at the cover making sure I had the correct book, especially being such a huge Kristen Hannah fan. All I can come up with was that it was one of her earlier works?!#* Who knows. But I'm still a huge fan. "

— Pam, 3/8/2011" Just finished this book. I like it a lot. "
— Christina, 3/8/2011" Great store about life and marriage. "
— Janet, 2/28/2011" I am a big Kristin Hannah fan, however I found this book a little hard to get my attention. Once I got into it, I really enjoyed it. I will say the subject matter ( a couple at a low point in their marriage) is not the happiest, but Kristin Hannah has such a great way of writing relationships. "
— Heather, 2/27/2011" Another book by Kristin Hannah that helps put life in perspective. Although I have been married for a decade I can see how one spouse may loose themself within a marriage as time passes. This was a great book to read about self-discovery and the joy of finding a lost love. "
— Kristin, 2/22/2011" This book stresses the importance of going after one's dreams and never giving up on them. "
— Lschneier, 1/29/2011" It's nice to read a story with a happy ending between a husband and wife (not to mention teen daughters and a stepmom). Inspiring, too, how Elizabeth finally got her mojo back and putting her passion for painting on hold for so many years. A feel-good read, very enjoyable. "
— Vickie, 1/24/2011" This was the very first Kristin Hannah novel I read. In fact, it was the first fiction novel I read period (for pleasure...ie: excluding anything mandating in school) which ultimately made me cross over from the non-fiction realms. Have never looked back! :) "
— Taabie, 1/24/2011" I did not finish this because I am terrible and remembered I read this about 2-3 years ago. Ugh! I hate when I do that. Although I remember liking it and it was a good read. "
— Becky, 1/7/2011" Very good book, doesn't get my Wow!rating, but a good read about marriage, relationships and growth!!! "
— Sue, 1/5/2011" Reminded me of another one of her books I just read, but still good. "
