Publisher Description

Three women loved him. Two betrayed him. One fulfilled his destiny. Desired tells the story of the legendary strongman through the eyes of the three most important women in his life. The fiercely loving Jewish mother who nags him toward greatness … and rebellion. The impoverished Philistine girl, Amara, who becomes Samson’s bride. And the emotionally damaged seductress—the legendary Delilah—who becomes the instrument of his destruction and the key to his tragic triumph. Poetic, meticulously researched, and jaw-droppingly honest, Desired ultimately celebrates the God of Israel’s ability to work mightily despite our human weakness.

"The story of Samson & Delilah was told in such a way that you could actually put a face to a name. A personality. We have all read the story over the years but this brought it to a different light. You felt very connected to the characters and also more of an understanding of what God was doing."

— Jeanie (5 out of 5 stars)

" I liked this book a lot, and I usually do enjoy Ginger Garrett's books. But this one was very sad... As always, Garrett gives a fresh perspective on an age old story. And she always leaves me with something to think about. "

" Had to stop reading for many reasons and return the books to the owner. At the time I stopped though, would give the book four stars. "

" Mixed feelings about this book. I enjoyed the detail and learning more about the world of Samson and the two women he loved. However it is not a book I would recommend to anyone who is not a really mature christian and can deal with how sad and full of pain the accounts of its characters are . "

" Very well written, very engaging, that being said I came away with more insight into the plight of women in the time of the philistines than into Samson. The story dose not apologize for the behavior of the women in his life but gives insight into why they may have acted as they did "

" Desired was a very good book. Modernized in some areas to give a better idea of what was happening. My heart went out for Delilah. She had such a hard life. Sampson's portrayal was very different. He was slightly immature and wreck less. Overall a good book. "
