Bring history back to life through Jim Hodges’ historically accurate, exciting, and edifying audio recordings.

The conquest of the Aztec Empire by Hernando Cortez and a mere handful of Spaniards is one of the greatest romances of history. A writer of fiction would scarcely have dared to invent so improbable a story, but it is true. Fortunately, Cortez was able to ally himself with many peoples conquered by the Aztecs who were all too happy to assist in their downfall. Roger Hawkshaw, a shipwrecked Englishman, presenting himself as a long-lost Spaniard, assists Cortez in his many adventures.

About the Author

George Alfred Henty (1832–1902) was a prolific English novelist and war correspondent. He is best known for his historical adventure stories for boys that were popular in the late nineteenth century.

About the Narrator

Jim Hodges began reading aloud in the second grade with a stirring rendition of Dick and Jane. He continued to volunteer to speak throughout his schooling years, performed as a newscaster while in the Navy, and participated in community theater groups. His wife, Monica, once asked what his dream job would be. He answered, “I’d record books.” And so began Jim Hodges Audio Books, producing unabridged recordings of the G. A. Henty historical novels, children’s books, Overtly Christian titles, and classic literature.
