Blessed with a gift...cursed with a secret. Everybody knows Cate Cahill and her sisters are eccentric. Too pretty, too reclusive, and far too educated for their own good. But the truth is even worse: they're witches. And if their secret is discovered by the priests of the Brotherhood, it would mean an asylum, a prison ship - or an early grave. Before her mother died, Cate promised to protect her sisters. But with only six months left to choose between marriage and the Sisterhood, she might not be able to keep her word . . . especially after she finds her mother's diary, uncovering a secret that could spell her family's destruction. Desperate to find alternatives to their fate, Cate starts scouring banned books and questioning rebellious new friends, all while juggling tea parties, shocking marriage proposals, and a forbidden romance with the completely unsuitable Finn Belastra. If what her mother wrote is true, the Cahill girls aren't safe. Not from the Brotherhood, the Sisterhood - not even from each other.

"I was expecting to like this book, but I wasn't expecting how much I loved it! I was worried about the love triangle thing, as that has been SO overdone these days, but my fears were allayed by the writing and characterizations. My only disappointment is that the next book in the series isn't out yet..."

" It took a minute to get into for me and i didn't blow threw it like I do some books but it was a great story and I can't wait for the next book. "
— Kelly, 2/10/2014" Born wicked had a stellar story line and kept me interested until I was done with the book!!! I LOVED IT! The only complaint that I had was how angry and somewhat bitter the main character was, but by far the book is great. So looking forward to the next book!!! "
— Azani, 1/30/2014" Oh. My. Gosh. This book was amazing! Can't believe the ending. Waiting for the next book is going to be torture :( "
— Danielle, 1/21/2014" I'd give this two and half stars if I could, because while I did eventually enjoy it, none of it was particularly captivating. I found the story to be kind of been-there, done-that in the world of YA fiction and it didn't really offer much creativity. The beginning was pretty slow and I almost put it down, but it did pick up in the second half. I saw all the "twists" coming a million miles away which was kind of disappointing, and I might read the next one, but I wouldn't go out of my way to. The most bizarre thing was the "world" they were living in. It was like the author was trying to create a fantasy world, but the way she built it was baffling and weird. So yah, two stars. The end. "
— Nisha, 1/18/2014" I liked this book. Had a love triangle, which is predictable, but I like the magic angle. Good read. Will read the sequel when it comes out. "
— Brandi, 12/23/2013" It took me some time to get into this book because it wasn't what I was expecting. However, I loved it in the end and can't wait to read the next book. I hope she publishes it quickly!!! "

— Keke, 6/21/2013" would have been 5stars if it had ended differently lol. as it is i hated that ending, the brotherhood and sisterhood are both manipulating bastards and care nothing for the happiness of others. i hope in the 2nd book cate and finn have a happy ending "
— Alice, 5/28/2013" Is a great book to read "
— Victoria, 5/27/2013" Well, it had an ending, but definitely not a resolution! Spotswood clearly leaves room for Book #2! "
— Khuck, 5/9/2013" Really slow. I didn't really get what the pretense was. Too many other similar books out there to read like this one. "
— Molly, 3/29/2013" To far back in time... "
— Aimee, 12/9/2012" I loved this book! While it was a little slow in the beginning it eventually picked up and couldnt put it down..I have a good feeling about this series and I can't wait till the next one comes out!!! :) "
— Erin, 10/21/2012" I really liked this book. It was mysterious and thrilling at the same time. I loved how you could also connect with the characters especially Cate. There is also some forbidden romance and a magic. Overall, this book was very enjoyable and I look forward to reading the rest of the series. "
