There has always been a Harper living at Harper House, the centuries-old mansion close to Memphis. And as far back as anyone can remember, the ghost of the Harper Bride has wandered the hallways at night, singing lullabies.

On the run from the ghosts of her own past, Stella Rothchild, a young widow with two lively little boys, has returned to her roots in southern Tennessee with hopes of finding a new life at In the Garden nursery and Harper House. She is not frightened by the house, nor its legendary mistress Roz Harper. Although she is known as a difficult woman, Roz has been kind and generous with Stella, trusting her to manage the blossoming nursery and offering her a comfortable new home at Harper House.

As Stella happily adjusts to her new job and home, she forges new friendships with Roz, and with an expectant mother named Hayley. At the same time, she finds herself strongly attracted to the landscaper, Logan Kitridge, and his rugged good looks.

But someone cannot abide the flowering romance—The Harper Bride. As Stella and her friends investigate the long history of Harper House, they find that sorrow and anger have kept the Bride's ghost from resting many years after her death. Now, she will stop at nothing to end the love that Stella and Logan enjoy.

Author Nora Roberts, also known as Eleanor Marie Robertson, J.D. Robb, Jill March and Sarah Hardesty, is the bestselling author of more than 200 romance novels. She was the first writer to be inducted into the Romance Writers of America Hall of Fame.

She isn’t intimidated by the house — nor by its mistress, local legend Roz Harper. Despite a reputation for being difficult, Roz has been nothing but kind to Stella, offering her a comfortable new place to live and a challenging new job as manager of the flourishing nursery. As Stella settles comfortably into her new life, she finds a nurturing friendship with Roz and with expectant mother Hayley. " Love the book (of course i say that about all the books i read unless you count the xanth novels and The Begariad series, no offense but they just arent for me ,) its nice and developes into a nice series but i really wish that Nora would stop all this broken record writting. All the trilogies start out the same way main character of the first book has a great tragety and for some reson travels away to start a group of six to do something, and first main character falls in love and gets married ,next book in the trilogy another main character fals in love with another main character, next book yada yada yada you get the picture. Its not that they arent great in their own way butas i like to call it i HATE broken-record writing. I read a lot of triligies by her and they all end up the same . No offense Nora but its true try reading some of your own triligies, seriously.they all go the same way . thanks for letting me rant. "

" Typical NR book....girl meets boy that she doesn't like, they fall in love. A little "fantasy" on the side with a ghost....that was about the only part I cared about. I wish I didn't have to finish most books I start! I don't think I'll read the other two books in the trilogy. "
