Publisher Description

The first book in the New York Times best-selling series, Blue Bloods introduces Schuyler Van Alen to the ancient world of the undead. Schuyler is an outcast at her prestigious private high school filled with fashionable upper-class socialites. But this off-limits world opens up to her when Schuyler turns 15 and discovers that her peers, like her, are budding vampires. Then vampires start getting killed, and Schuyler realizes something else-they are being hunted. "De la Cruz introduces ... vampires far different from ... traditional horror fiction, coupling sly humor with ... being fanged and fabulous."-Booklist, starred review

"This book shows a big twist on vampires. Melissa has great knowledge on fashion which she incorporates in her books. At first I was resistant about the book because of the high class and fashion world but it just sucked me in with it's amazing plot. I was never a fan of mystery novels but she has changed the way I feel about them. Actually, she enlightened me on the way I see real blue bloods (rich, high class people) and mystery books. Her twist with the vampires is very unique and creative. This book will leave you asking for more."

" 2.5 stars. I am not going to lie, this book wasn't great. It wasn't terrible either. I really like the premise of the book mixing fallen angels with vampires but got distracted by the shallowness of most of the characters. All the references to clothing brands and money were a little off putting to me. The only reason I will continue to book two is Schuyler. I really like her character and her relationship with Oliver. It does remind me a lot of Clary and Simon in The Mortal Instruments but I realize you don't get much variety in the YA genre. Hopefully book 2 will go in a different direction in Italy. "

" This book is gossip girl meets vampires. I liked it, but it's not great or nothing to get too excited over. It takes place in nyc and is about Blue Bloods, a group of high society vampires. But they are in danger, which the main characters find out later. There's also some romance in it too! "

" I thoguht this book was pretty good. If you're not really into the whole vampire theme then I wouldn't really recommend this book. It's a new twist on vampires not the typical vampire story and it's more modern. "

" A good friends recommended this series to me and I put off getting started until this year. I would have to say this book is among the better of the YA vampire novels out there and is very entertaining and enjoyable, even to those of us who no longer qualify for the "T" part of YA! "

" Good first book in a series about vampires. I like how the author is weaving in a lot of biblical myth/stories and history (the Puritans). It's an interesting and different take on vampires. This is also a very simple/fast read, so I like that as well. "
