Publisher Description

In 1890 twelve guests gather at Desborough Hall for a week's shooting party hosted by the beautiful Lady Amelia Hammond. More deaths follow and clues planted on the bodies point shockingly to a final tally of seven, one for each day of the week. Bertie is impelled to investigate.

Written in the tradition of the 'golden age' detective story, the book was intended as a homage to Agatha Christie in the year of her centenary.

    " The style of writing isn't one to remember...it's the kind of book that you buy during some holiday to read at the beach. Both the style and the story reminded me of Agatha Christie's, but much less brilliant. It wasn't a bad read though. "

About Peter Lovesey

Peter Lovesey, the author of more than thirty highly praised mystery novels, has won the British Crime Writers’ Association Silver and Gold Dagger awards as well as the Diamond Dagger for Lifetime Achievement and the Strand Magazine Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014. In the United States, he has received Edgar and Dilys nominations, an Anthony Award and a Macavity Award, and the Ellery Queen Readers Award, among others. In 2018, he was named a Mystery Writers of America Grand Master.

About Terrence Hardiman

Terrence Hardiman has worked extensively in theater. He began at the Old Vic, went on to repertory at Bristol, and then spent five years as a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company. He played the title role in BBC TV’s The Demon Headmaster, while his other television appearances include major parts in Secret Army, Miss Marple, Hannay, and Inspector Morse. Among his film credits are Mask of Murder, Loophole, and Gandhi.
