Everyone has secrets. Some we keep to protect ourselves, others to protect those we love.

A devoted city dweller, Cornelia Brown surprised herself when she was gripped by the sudden desire to head for an idyllic suburb. Though she knows she's made the right move, she approaches her new life with trepidation and struggles to forge friendships. Cornelia's mettle is quickly tested by judgmental neighbor Piper Truitt, the embodiment of everything Cornelia feared she would find in suburbia. A saving grace soon appears in the form of Lake, and Cornelia develops an instant bond with this warm yet elusive woman.

As their individual stories unfold, the women become entangled in a web of trust, betrayal, love and loss that challenges them in ways they never imagined, and that ultimately teaches them what it means for one human being to belong to another.

" I loved this book. The characters are so multidimensional that they leap off the page. The prose is so full of meaning and so descriptive that I want to read it again. I had read another book by this author which I didn't really like. However, I got this from the library, so, free, right? So glad I did. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Gina | 2/13/2014

" Ironically, I had no idea this book is a sequel! As a girl who judges a book by its cover, I've always liked these rainboots but never picked up the book til now. I suppose reading this first would be okay, but the true story begins in her first book, Love Walks In- that's where we really meet Cornelia, Clare, Teo, etc. That's the book that fully develops our love for the characters. Without it, I think this book would have been dull, but since I knew so much about them, their lives and motives made much more sense. Several stories lines intertwine and although the ending could have been "less tidy", it really was a good book. "

" Read Belong to Me without realizing that this was a sequel to Love Walked In. However, I don't think I needed to read it first, as this book stood alone. This was a quick easy read. I thought it was a realistic "this is life" book. Some funny parts but mostly sad and I'm not a big fan of sad. "

" I'd give this 3 1/2 stars if I were able to. It's a great vacation-read book. I plowed through it in just a few days. The writing style is chirpy but solid, and the plot is satisfying in a good drama sort of way. Good follow-up to Love Walked In. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Dawnzi | 12/27/2013

" This is a very nice story. Not terribly exciting though. I don't know that I'll read another one of her books. I just get bored so easily these days. I want to be wowed, darn it. "

" I love so much of what this author has to say, and I enjoyed the opportunity to revisit the Love Walked In characters; however, Belong to Me felt a little rambling and unfocused to me overall. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Linda Anderson | 12/2/2013
