“Marisa de los Santos’s Belong to Me is my favorite discovery of the past years: a terrific page-turner that’s also poignant, funny, surprising and deeply heartfelt.”
—Harlan Coben
“Complex, engaging, and surprisingly moving.”
—Boston Globe
The sensational New York Times bestseller from Marisa de los Santos, Belong to Me is a gift for readers, an enchanting, luminous novel about the accidents, both big and small, that affect our choice of friend, lover, and spouse. A story centered around three very different suburban neighbors and what it truly means to “belong” to someone, this eye-opening, unforgettable book is the perfect book club selection—beautifully written, smart and sophisticated women’s fiction that invites discussion as it touches the heart—and the ideal companion to de los Santos’s previous blockbuster, Love Walked In.

"Ironically, I had no idea this book is a sequel! As a girl who judges a book by its cover, I've always liked these rainboots but never picked up the book til now. I suppose reading this first would be okay, but the true story begins in her first book, Love Walks In- that's where we really meet Cornelia, Clare, Teo, etc. That's the book that fully develops our love for the characters. Without it, I think this book would have been dull, but since I knew so much about them, their lives and motives made much more sense. Several stories lines intertwine and although the ending could have been "less tidy", it really was a good book."

“A good read.”
— Publishers Weekly“De los Santos keeps us totally engaged with these fragile creatures, who get under our skin and, ultimately, into our hearts.”
— School Library Journal“Witty and intelligent.”
— Kirkus Reviews“Julia Gibson is an easygoing storyteller who gives the impression of describing events in which she has had a direct part. She is sensitive to the emotion of the characters without overstating it.”
— AudioFile" I loved this book. The characters are so multidimensional that they leap off the page. The prose is so full of meaning and so descriptive that I want to read it again. I had read another book by this author which I didn't really like. However, I got this from the library, so, free, right? So glad I did. "
— Maryellen, 2/20/2014" If you liked Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons, you will love this! I enjoyed it. "
— Debbie, 2/5/2014" I did not like this book as much as I had hoped. "
— Teresa, 2/1/2014" Great characters that interacted well together and just an easy read for the plane. "
— Chris, 1/30/2014" Read Belong to Me without realizing that this was a sequel to Love Walked In. However, I don't think I needed to read it first, as this book stood alone. This was a quick easy read. I thought it was a realistic "this is life" book. Some funny parts but mostly sad and I'm not a big fan of sad. "
— Padgy, 1/21/2014" Was glad to have more Cornelia and Teo and Clare. But this was NOT _Love Walked In_. "
— Ali, 1/15/2014" I'd give this 3 1/2 stars if I were able to. It's a great vacation-read book. I plowed through it in just a few days. The writing style is chirpy but solid, and the plot is satisfying in a good drama sort of way. Good follow-up to Love Walked In. "
— Shrop, 1/10/2014" This is a very nice story. Not terribly exciting though. I don't know that I'll read another one of her books. I just get bored so easily these days. I want to be wowed, darn it. "
— Dawnzi, 12/27/2013" I love so much of what this author has to say, and I enjoyed the opportunity to revisit the Love Walked In characters; however, Belong to Me felt a little rambling and unfocused to me overall. "
— Brianne, 12/7/2013" A modern story that is a follow on to Love Walked in. Again, I liked the modern day situations and the strength of the women to survive and their friendships. "
— Linda, 12/2/2013" Loved this one just as much as the first! Look forward to more of her work! "
— Amy, 11/16/2013" SO far so good... a chick book. "
— Marla, 11/13/2013" nice followup to the 1st "
— Jayne, 11/12/2013" What a difference from the first book. I liked this one a lot better. It was all more believable. It was almost as if the author's publisher told her to take out the things that were "out there" from the first book. "
— Caroline, 11/5/2013" Loved this book. So many stories within the story and great people to love. A little more humor and it would have been 5 stars for me! "
— Cyndi, 8/27/2013" I like Loved Walked In much better--still having trouble with the sister and significant other in this story... "
— Kathleen, 8/4/2013" A good read!! I loved it. "
— Sarahb., 6/25/2013" Although there were a couple of times De Los Santos' writing has contained poorly-formed sentences, the story itself was engaging, entertaining, and indeed made me cry in parts. It was an easy, feel-good read. **This is the sequel to "Love Walked In"** "
— cristina, 3/3/2013" Good story, good characters, easy to read. Enjoyed it a lot. Had some good twists and good character growth. I liked the characters from the previous books but the story didn't read like a sequel. "
— Ruth, 11/15/2012" Great crying book. You need these sometimes. "
— Natalie, 10/20/2012" Loved this book! "Belong to Me" had me laughing and crying. An excellent read. "
— Monique, 6/16/2012" Wow. Great book. Very well written. The author discribes the characters with such amazing details that they come alive. Most of the characters I don't relate too but I gained a new understanding why they do what they do. I'm going to reread it! "
— Niki, 3/3/2012" I love finding chick lit books with unique and unpredictable plots and Santos' books fall into that category. The characters are so complex and just real. "
— Rebecca, 1/25/2012" Summer reading is off to a great start with this novel! "
— Kristie, 11/20/2011" This one was also good especially for a sequel "
— Mbform, 11/18/2011" Good beach dad with a predictable plot and spunkily perfect characters. "
— Lisa, 6/21/2011" this book was intresting at times but had a very disapointing end =/
"
— Lisa, 5/21/2011" Beautiful stories with characters I wanted to hug, throw things at and sit down and have a good cry with. "
— Laura, 5/15/2011" I enjoyed this book and it really kept my interest. I wanted to see what happened to the characters so I was inspired to keep reading. I read the prequel, Love Walked In, last summer and enjoyed that one as well. One thing, why is there no mention of Teo's ex-wife (I won't give more away)? "
— Laurie, 5/15/2011" I loved this book - but I read it a while ago, so I don't really remember what I loved about it. "
— Katie, 5/13/2011" Enjoyed it! Wasn't too serious or sentimental. An honest female voice. It was good. "
— Marikka, 5/12/2011" Easy Read. Great Story. Emotional, but not too overwhelming. Good book. "
— Rachel, 5/12/2011" Oh my God.... What a book.... I was crying my eyes out as If I was one of the members of the story in describtion of the death of Elizabeth.... So true.... Be prepared to sob your eyes out... A definite must read.... "
— Carolin, 5/12/2011" This was just okay. It reminded me of the television show Desperate Housewives. Unlikely and unbelievable, but it was a fun, breezy read. "
— Carrie, 5/3/2011" I loved the character development and the unexpected friendships that grew among the characters. I thought it was well written, however there were a few parts of the book I was uncomfortable with (language being one - some of the words once in awhile). "
— Becky, 5/2/2011" I enjoyed this book, but I did not like the ending that much. Hard to say why, but it started off so well and then it fizzled into something that was similar to some other book that I have read in some other year. Same old, same old. "
— Lisa, 4/28/2011" A very nice story of a group of people who become friends and family. An interesting mystery thrown in the mix made this book an enjoyable read. "
— Amy, 4/28/2011" Listened to this on audio book, and I kept wishing it would end so I could move on to something better.
"
— Iris, 4/20/2011" Was apprehensive about this book in the beginning. Not a fan of some woman in our society. The story drew me right in after the 1/3 of the book. I loved the writing and the characters. "
