"When I picked this book up, I expected more of a fluff piece. I have absolutely no clue why, considering the fact that Libba Bray is an amazing author of very moving and well-crafted books! I didn't really think that much about reading this book, because I've been a huge Libba Bray fan since about 7th grade. I loved that this book has so many different types of stories. It defies what you believe about pageant queens and makes you realize that the heroine of the story doesn't always have to fall for the sexy pirate, and young women DO have the ability, and the right, to decide not to take back the boy who lied. I absolutely give this book a solid A. It's a must-read."

“As narrator, Bray puts her theatrical background to good use, changing accents, register, and pitch so smoothly and consistently that listeners will forget there’s but a single narrator.”
— AudioFile“This book is everything I wanted it to be—and more. Full of satirical humor, unpredictable plot twists, and just general awesomeness. What could have turned into a Lord of the Flies or Lost knockoff becomes a testament to girl power in Bray’s capable hands. Beauty Queens is officially one of my most favorite books ever. Weird, wonderful, and just perfect.”
— RT Book Reviews (4½ gold stars, Top Pick!)“Uproariously funny and sharply observant.”
— Horn Book“Bray’s delicious satire does not overpower the beating heart at the center of this empowerment tale. Each girl’s backstory is equally compelling, and when these ladies bond together to bring down their oppressors, they keep the reader eager to reach the action-packed conclusion.”
— School Library Journal“The humor is both dark and madcap, including footnote asides and commercial scripts that keep the laughs coming.”
— Kirkus Reviews" Another amazing novel by Libba Bray. A smart, funny, and silly book that is akin to Lord of the Flies, but with more beauty products. I would suggest this for Teen reading. It's very topical and enjoyable. the plot has a hint of conspiracy which makes it all the more fun! Also diverse in characters, LGBT and racially. "
— Ashley , 3/9/2018" This was one of the funniest books I have ever read. It has tons of hilarious, random plot twists. Beauty Queens was an odd, but great, combination of satire, realistic fiction and survival story. It's a step up from Science Fair: it's young adult rather than for younger kids, and it's much better written and a lot funnier. I would definitely recommend this. It's one of my favorite books ever! "
— Carrie, 1/14/2014" I thought this was witty. Several lines had me laughing soooooo hard. "
— Jek, 11/8/2013" So funny!!!! I listened to this as an audio which I think made it %100 percent better than it would have been if I'd just read it. The narrator did a fantastic job with different accents which were an important part of the story. This book is all about girl power! I recommend it for all teen girls and former teen girls. "
— Beth, 11/5/2013" More than I expected from this author. Loved this book. "

— Alyssa, 4/17/2013" How can you go wrong with a jet load of Beauty Queens crash landing on a desert island? Libba is at her wittiest and writes fantastic characters. She also reads the sudiobook version and proves to be one of my favorite readers. "
— Mary, 8/17/2012" After hearing all the great reviews, I really wanted to love this book but I couldn't take it seriously because of how sarcastically was written. I appreciate the humor, theme and idea this book tried to accomplish but was bored so I moved on to other books. "
— Karmen, 3/24/2012" I love Libba Bray's stream-of-consciousness writing. This one was so packed full of jokes and satire that I needed a break sometimes. Otherwise, a fab and unique parody. "

— Levina, 7/2/2011" So Bad didn't even finish it. "
— Bryony, 6/5/2011" I would give this more stars if the language wasn't so bad, and there were fewer sexual encounters. The storyline was enjoyable and the writing was smart and funny, though. "
