It’s a business trip that takes attorney Maddie Fitzgerald down to New Orleans, but it’s hardly business as usual when a man breaks into her hotel room and tries to kill her. Barely escaping with her life, the sexy, stylish thirty-two-year-old brunette calls the police and finds herself face-to-face with FBI agent Sam McCabe. Unnerved by his questions — and his good looks — Maddie is told she’s been targeted by a hired killer, one who has eluded McCabe for years. Apparently, she’s been mistaken for another woman, an FBI informant of the same name who was also staying at the hotel that night. McCabe grills her, and then disappears. Shaken, she finishes her business and returns home to St. Louis. But days later, Maddie is attacked a second time, and again McCabe returns to question her. He convinces her that the only way she’ll ever be safe again is if the killer is caught, and the quickest way to nab him is to use her as bait. Maddie reluctantly agrees, and sparks fly and then ignite as McCabe shadows her. But their unexpected romance throws McCabe off his stride — and puts Maddie in the hands of a killer. " Tons of adjectives. Good plot but bores me to death cause she goes on and on about what the scene looks like and how the characters feel ..... "

" Way too much sex!!!! Way to graphic and it ruined an otherwise good mystery story. "

" This book truly deserves the five stars I've given it!! This is definitely a can't-put-it-down read. If you love "romaction" books and movies, then you'll love Karen Robards!! "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Laura | 1/22/2014

" It's a good book to read as a summer book. Action, romance and Zelda an small pekines, delayed me. "

" I had this on CD and could not finish it. Perhaps in a book you could scan the superfluous descriptions but it is harder to do on CD. Bleh. I barely cared about the characters, felt the FBI characters were portrayed as too heavy handed and I got more than half way through and still didn't know what the lead character was running from. Did I mention how slowly it moves? Spend your time reading something more enjoyable. Skip it. "

" A good mystery story. Part of my snowbirding library this year. Romance and intrigue: America's classic combination for a good read. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Pr Latta | 1/11/2014

" The suspense takes a back seat in the KR Romantic Suspense novel: Maddie is driving and Sam seems only along for the ride. Solving the case is not the main plot: protecting Maddie, who Sam believes is the bait, is while the FBI ignores "the game" of trying to prevent two more people from getting murdered. I didn't classify this as a police procedural because Sam, Win and Gardner don't seem to follow much procedure but the crew is likable and I had a fun time riding along. "

" This was a quick read. It was pretty elementary mystery writing, definitely not on the same level as the other authors I'm used to reading. A few very cheesy sex scenes were in it that totally made me laugh. I liked the characters, so that was good enough for me. "
