Electrifying suspense, cutting-edge psychological insight, and an unforgettably sensuous love story—these are the trademarks of Karen Robards’s sizzling novels. Now the New York Times bestselling author launches a red-hot new paranormal romantic thriller series featuring the fascinating Dr. Charlotte Stone, a serial killer expert whose extraordinary powers lead her from ecstasy to terror. THE LAST VICTIM Dr. Charlotte Stone sees what others do not. A sought-after expert in criminal pathology, Charlie regularly sits face-to-face with madmen. Obsessed with learning what makes human monsters commit terrible crimes, Charlie desires little else from life—no doubt because when she was sixteen, she herself survived a serial killer’s bloodbath: A man butchered the family of Charlie’s best friend, Holly, then left the girl’s body on a seaside boardwalk one week later. Because of the information Charlie gave police, the Boardwalk Killer went underground. She kept to herself her eerie postmortem visions of Holly and her mother. And even years later, knowing her contact with ghosts might undermine her credibility as a psychological expert, Charlie tells no one about the visits she gets from the spirit world. Now all-too-handsome FBI agent Tony Bartoli is telling Charlie that a teenage girl is missing, her family slaughtered. Bartoli suspects that after fifteen years, the Boardwalk Killer—or a sick copycat with his M.O.—is back. Time is running short for an innocent, kidnapped girl, and Bartoli pleads for Charlie’s help. This is the one case Charlie shouldn’t go near. But she also knows that she may be the one person in the world who can stop this vicious killer. For Charlie—whose good looks disguise a world of hurt, vulnerability, and potent psychic gifts—a frantic hunt for a madman soon becomes a complex test of cunning, passions, and secrets. Aiding Dr. Stone on her quest to catch a madman is a ghostly presence with bad intentions: the fiery spirit of seductive bad boy Michael Garland who refuses to be ignored, though in his cat and mouse game they may both lose their hearts. Dr. Charlotte Stone sees what others do not. And she sees the Boardwalk Killer coming for her.

"i quite enjoyed this paranormal romantic/suspense book. It's the first in a new series and ends on quite a cliffhanger. As soon as the last page ended i screamed "no!!!!".I so hate it when books end like that. The romance between a living psychiatrist and a ghost can be quite hot....and creative lol"

" As always with Karen Robards books, I was hooked from the first paragraph. Michael, as with all the characters, was amazing. Would like to hear more about Charlie and his story!! "
— Chris, 2/17/2014" Light reading, some parts a little far fetched "
— Debi, 2/11/2014" Didn't even finish. Predictable and boring. Found the whole "I see ghosts and can't let anyone else know" thing to be irritating and overdone. "
— Becky, 2/8/2014" This is a totally do not miss book. It is soooo good. Michael Garland can haunt me anytime. "
— Regan, 2/7/2014" Incredibly scary! This is one of those books that scares me so bad I can't sleep at night, yet I can't seem to put it down and stop scaring myself. "
— Sabre, 1/16/2014" Interesting characters and enjoyed most of it. Dr. Stone's relationship with a ghost wasn't the highlight for me. There will a follow up to this book. "
— KC, 1/9/2014" I loved this book. It was a little weird that she had a love affair with a ghost but the story was great. Can't wait till her next dr. Charlotte stone book. "
— Kari, 12/28/2013" i really good mystery and cannot wait for the next book to see where the ghost goes from here!! Has anyone else read this book-if so, what are your thoughts?? "
— Judith, 12/6/2013" I quit after the 4th chapter....to dark for me....which is unusual cause I like her books "
— Marcia, 7/10/2013" I almost put this down a few times and wasn't going to finish it, but I'm glad I did. The whole relationship with Garland's ghost was bizarre. I'd rather have seen the relationship with Bartoli develop. Love the whole paranormal vibe though. Looking forward to the next in the series. "
— Cheryl, 1/29/2013" I loved this book!!! It was so gripping, I could not put it down. I can't wait for the sequel!! "
— Katie, 11/27/2012" good book, keep me woundring what was next. "
— Donna, 11/5/2012" Absolutely loved it! Again though...I wish they would let you know that there will be a sequel! Can't wait for the next one! "
— Teri, 10/21/2012" Fairly engaging fluff with too much sex. I had to skip 5 pages at a time of detailed sex descriptions. But the mix of paranormal, troubled pasts and cliches was entertaining. "
— Ladymath, 10/15/2012" I really liked this book! At first I was annoyed because what I thought was going to be a sub-plot was actually a vital plot. I can't wait to read the next! "
