An Antarctic whaler stumbles across an aged wreck—her frozen crew guarding a priceless treasure.

A team of anthropologists is buried under a mountain by a deliberate explosion.

A ship that should have died fifty-six years ago reappears, and almost sinks a National Underwater and Marine Agency ship.

Dirk Pitt knows that somehow these events are connected. His investigations lead to an ancient mystery with devastating modern consequences, and a diabolical enemy unlike any he has ever known. "Great adventure story. The characters are very macho and brave and very alpha. The action is non-stop and nerve wracking. And I liked some of the personal parts of the story. I don't want to give away the end, but "way to go"! And Nazis make such good bad guys. "

" It was a page-turner of sorts; I did want to find out what happens next. There's constant action. There's also what borders on unbelievable survival by Dirk. What really turns me off are the excessive descriptions of what seemed like every little thing. It's not that he got on a motorcycle, it's that he mounted a 1942 limited edition Indian with this and that. Near the end I started to skim. "

" I always like a good Clive Cussler/Dirk Pitt novel. Some of the later ones started to slide a bit, go in odd directions. This one, while a bit predictable, was on the better side. "

" I picked up this book after struggling with a 'Cornwell', and really loved the story from page 1. I do have to say that I love these kind of plots, but some things are a little far fetched, even for me. Still a nice read and a good escape from daily life for me. "
