Publisher Description

Kevin heard a man’s voice from somewhere on the other side of his room. “Show me your hands, Strange One.” A grim voice. “Stand–slowly–and show me your hands.” Kevin is trying to remember what he’s supposed to do if there’s an intruder in the house: stay calm, don’t look scared, call 911. At the same time, he’s doing his best to figure out how the heck some guy with a bow and arrows got into the room. The archer’s explanation–“I lost my balance, fell off the tiger, and landed here”–just adds to Kevin’s bewilderment. The stranger’s astonishing arrival is only the beginning of a dazzling adventure. For the man, whom Kevin calls Archer or Archie, has come from a centuries-old Korean kingdom. And it’s up to Kevin to find a way to send him back through space and time . . . before history is changed forever.

"Kevin is so bored on a slow afternoon after school he's even doing his homework. When all of a sudden he hears a thud and a thwack, and an arrow has pinned his hat to the wall! It's nice to have a fantasy that features an Asian American kid and a Korean time traveler"

" Entertaining book; fantasy mixed with some factual historical fiction. A fun read--not as good as her others, but definitely appeals to kids looking for a book with adventure. "

" It's been awhile since I read this but from what I can remember I really liked a lot! Like I've said I hate the fact I'm a book judged but I am, and my fav. Animal is the tiger so that is why I picked if up.I ended really likeing it. :) "

" I read this book as part of my job as a librarian (sweet gig). It's a book 3rd through 8th graders will read next year as part of a statewide book contest. It was a quick and easy time travel story. It will be great for 3rd and 4th graders. The most interesting part for me was the embedded math problem the main character solved. I like that the author included Chinese zodiac information, but she did not take it far enough into the future. Any kid born after 2000 will have to look elsewhere to be sure of his or her Chinese birth year (if they're born in January/February anyway). "

" This is a strange little book that would best be suited for pre-teens. Archer is on a search to find out about a father he never knew. The plot idea is a good one however, the execution of the story was somewhat trite and childish. "
