"Though fictional, I loved this book for exploring and scrutinising a long-term relationship where both hubby and wife love each other but are clearly overwhelmed w life ie babies, work/life balance, and keeping that spark going after being together such a long time. An enjoyable read, wld def recommend :)"

" Ralph and Jen have been seperated for eleven years, however they share custody of their two children. The book goes back to the past to highlight how they met and the good times and back to the present to show the pressures and hard times from both points of view. It is well written but I found the constant back and forth a little off putting and, for myself, I found it slightly depressing. "
— S., 2/13/2014" Follow up to Ralph's Party, which I read a long, long time ago, but there were enough references to the past that I could recall the book. Ralph & Jem are grown ups with 2 children & a mortgage, can their carefree fun existence cope with these circumstances? "
— Anna, 2/4/2014" was a great read! began exciting and ended exciting although I didnt expect them to get married. I felt ralph deserved more but the story was still overall a really deceptive interesting and imaginative read. "
— Harishta, 1/16/2014" A good book for a holiday read......a bit fluffy not too much to think about but enjoyable "
— Barb, 12/29/2013" This one became a chore rather than a pleasure to read and I wasn't hooked on it. Its well written but I lost patience with the characters and the lack of communication between them. I loved the character of Scarlett, the little girl - such an endearingly precocious child! "
— Karen, 12/21/2013" Although I haven't read the first book, "Ralph's Party," I thought this was a pretty good read. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the back story but it did well as a "stand alone." "
— Ronda, 11/24/2013" This book was absolutely wonderful. What a telltale of how most everday romances lose their oomph and then have to find our way back again to that special love we share. So very lifelike!!! Loved it!!! Definitely a real life love story! "
— Marnie, 10/28/2013" Having read the previous book a number of years ago I could not remember much of the story but this did not stop me from enjoying this book. Would consider more books by Jewell "
— Laura, 10/4/2013" A little air before I hit The Room! "
— Jenni, 8/13/2013" Helt okej chic-lit. Faktiskt undrade jag hur den skulle sluta. "
— Malena, 8/10/2013" Honestly, I just didn't think this book was anything special. Interesting? Yes. But so interesting I absolutely had to finish it, that I couldn't put it down, that I even really wanted to finish it? No. "
— Sharon, 12/23/2012" A compelling and insightful tale about how having kids can put a strain on a marriage. The last third dragged a bit and the ending left me unsatisfied because it didn't quite fit but all in all an enjoyable read. "
— Emma, 7/4/2012" Follow up to Ralph's party (which I'd like to read again) Not a funny or happy book. All the characters were so miserabe but with a happy ending. "
— Beth, 5/28/2012" I can't believe I read the whole thing! "
— Suzanne, 2/12/2012" I thought this book was well written...very real to a lot of relationships..I think almost everyone could relate to something in this book. "
— Katrina, 9/27/2011" Need to read the 1st one - but enjoyed it... "
— Sandra, 5/4/2011" Some parts were OK. Overall - no. I find hard to believe in the development of characters. Mundane boring life is well described, and things can happen because of that kind of life, but the happily ever after of the book just makes me throw it away and probably even throw up. "
— Lilu, 4/24/2011" There was large chunks in the book that didn't need to be there and then it felt rushed at the end. Maybe I'm bitter because none of Jewell's books lives up to 31 dream street "
— Natacake, 4/17/2011" Scarily accurate portrait of life as a thirty something Mum. "
— Kristy, 3/5/2011" Hmm, I was looking forward to this and I have to admit that it was rather a dissappointment. I still like the idea but I don't like the way she wrote it. Too much negativity, too many complications that were so not necessary. "
— Kat, 3/5/2011" the most boring book I read for while. this is my first book for Lisa Jewell but i won't read her books again. it's just not my style her writting was not what I thought . "
— Fatma, 1/18/2011" It was a good book not as good as ralph's party though and it did drag a bit too! "
— Caz, 11/11/2010" A little air before I hit The Room! "
— Jenni, 10/12/2010" I liked this, better than a lot of things she's written since Ralph's Party. Good description of the upheaval and changes to a relationship that happen with the birth of a child. "
