Publisher Description

Lydia, Dean, and Robyn don't know one another...yet. Each is facing difficult challenges: Lydia is still wearing the scars from her traumatic childhood. Wealthy and successful, she leads a lonely and disjointed existence. Dean is a young, unemployed single dad whose life is going nowhere. Robyn is eighteen. Gorgeous, popular, and intelligent, she entered her first year of college confident about her dream to become a pediatrician. Now she's failing her classes. Now she's falling in love for the first time. Lydia, Dean, and Robyn live very different lives, but each of them, independently, has always felt that something was missing. What they don't know is that a letter is about to arrive that will turn their lives upside down. It's a letter containing a secret-one that will bind them together and show them what love and family and friendship really mean. A literary gem, The Making of Us will remind listeners of the miracles that happen when we bring life into the world and share our lives with those we love.

"Original storyline, I struggled a bit with Daniel's character but really enjoyed the unfolding of the story and the children's coming to terms with their beginnings."

" Quite enjoyed. Understood why there were so many characters but book seemed rather over populated. Specifically didn't like the last paragraph - too rounded I felt. Also didn't particularly believe in any of the characters which was a shame as with a few tweaks they could have been. Would not rush to read any more of her books. "

" This was okay for me. I didn't feel as if I was invested enough in any of adult children, as they searched for their donor father. In fact, the only character I was really rooting for was Maggie. She's the one that deserved the happy ending, not Lydia, Robyn or Dean. "

" I picked this off the library shelf not knowing what to expect, but looking for something other than my usual reads. It kept me engaged and I enjoyed the premise of the novel. Interesting to think of all those "siblings" from sperm donors who do not of each others existence. "

" I liked the story and was satisfied with the ending, but did sometimes grow frustrated with the characters and development. It was a surprisingly quick read, though not as frivolous as I expected, considering many label this chick lit. "
