" Deliciously creepy and bloody. Wierd premise of mind control. Some people would think it too violent and gory. I liked it. "

" Afraid is a fast moving electrical storm in Summer. Jack Kilborn takes his readers on a bullet train ride through the sleepy town of Safe Haven as a 30 year secret threatens to be exposed. If you enjoy fast paced, tension packed stories, then jump on the train and hunker down. This ride is going to get bumpy. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Tina | 1/24/2014

" Not a bad book. This is my first full length book by the author. It was a bit gory but the storyline was interesting enough where I wanted to complete it. I wish the the ending had more of a resolution. I felt cheated. I wanted the huge media event. Good read. Gory. Violent. Not scary. Has not kept me awake at all. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Rich Rosell | 1/23/2014

" This was one of those hard to find page-turning thrillers that I didn't want to see end. Some terrific villains and a shadowy plot made the wanton bloodshed a pleasure to be around. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Candi | 12/3/2012

" Pretty intense book. I was turned onto this author after reading his free ebook called Serial by Jack Kilborn and Blake Crouch. The free download included the beginning of Afraid and I was hooked. It had some pretty gross scenes and the storyline kept me intrigued the entire time. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Jo | 11/9/2012

" It's like one of those trashy horror movies where everything and everybody is a cliche, you know just what's going to happen and yet you still jump at all the scary parts. It wouldn't win any literary prizes but it is a fun page turner. And it has a monkey doing the Macarena "
