Dana Sue might run the best little restaurant in Serenity, but when you're feeding a small town of neighbors, busybodies, and best friends, things can get a bit hot in the kitchen. Never mind that she's putting on too many pounds (an occupational hazard for a chef) - she's worried about her too-skinny teenage daughter, Annie, who has been slowly starving herself since the loud, suitcase-tossing, name-calling fit on her front lawn that left Dana Sue minus one cheating husband.

But sometimes life picks strange ways to mend fences. When Annie lands in the hospital, Dana Sue reaches out to the man she loves to hate: Ron, the husband who took her heart when she tossed him out. Ron is still Annie's white knight, even if he's decidedly more tarnished in Dana Sue's eyes. But he still looks good enough to eat, and maybe, just maybe, to forgive.

Once, Ron made the mistake of letting go without a proper fight. But now Dana Sue is about to get another taste of sweet devotion from a man tired of feeling like a fool, hungry for that slice of heaven he found with her.

" Another lovely, light and idealistic read just right for bedtime unwinding. Occasional suspense kept me up and reading later than usual. Very nice! "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Kim | 2/2/2014

" Enjoyable although predictable story, easy read, likeable characters. Thought Annie's recvoery was a bit too easy... kind of a heavy subjec tossed into a light romance. "

" Interesting story about the second of the three girlfriends. Like the authors writing about anorexia and how it affects a family. Also liked the 'divorce and remarriage' interaction. Can't wait to see what happens to the third girlfriend. "

" I can't bear to leave a book unfinished but holy lord! This one was painful. This was one of the most boring, redundant, blah books I've ever read. All I wanted was a little mindless beach reading this was more like work! "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Mirella Grace | 12/31/2013

" Seri kedua dari The Sweet Magnolias. Lumayanlah ceritanya. As I said earlier, kisah cerita ini simpel aja. Masing-masing baik itu Dana Sue maupun Annie (putrinya) gak mau terbuka satu sama lain. Buntutnya masalah yang terjadi malah makin kompleks. Tapi, di balik kekompleksan masalah itu, toh ada hikmahnya juga. Dana Sue dan Ronnie kembali bersatu sebagai suami istri... "

" This is Dana Sue's story--it involves reconciliation between ex-spouses and a child with anorexia, and is very well done. Sometimes exes get back together, more often they don't. This is a look at how it might happen that they do. "

" I picked this book up at a fun auction, thinking it would be some decent fluff reading. I ended up really enjoying it - it tackles some serious topics (teenage anorexia, marital failures) in a realistic, but not too-heavy way. "
