Her aunt Penelope has just died, and Penny's presence is required in London for the reading of the will. This time, the history she's researching happens to be her very own. What she discovers about Aunt Penelope, a pair of wills, double lives, secret histories, and a family tree of "vultures" is about to sweep Penny and a long-lost relative across France, over the hills of Italy, and through half of Europe on the adventure of several lifetimes. This is her life, her past, her chance at love—and Penny's going to live with the kind of passion she's always dreamed of …

"A 'rather lovely' book: very pretty writing, enjoyable characters and even though I could guess a lot of what was happening, I was liking it so much, that the time passed quickly. I found I really didn't want to go to bed, but to continue reading. Finished it the next day and wondered what would happen to the characters...I'm obviously going to have to read the sequel. This is a great segue from Little Women--the story has a quaint and sentimental feel that isn't sappy, but rather a little old fashioned--in a good way, not a dusty-musty way. I wished I had known Aunt Penelope!"

" enjoyable, easy book to read - got into the story and read it pretty quickly. "
— Liz, 2/7/2014" A really nice story, not over-complicated, rated PG. Very enjoyable. "
— Annette, 1/30/2014" I enjoyed traveling through England, France, and Italy throughout this book. A bit slow in the beginning, but never-the-less great once the reading of the will(s) is complete. Sadly it ends not to my taste... "
— Alexis, 1/29/2014" This book was dull. It takes you all over Europe, so the setting was nice. There is also a "love story" that manages to be both creepy and boring. I was happy to just be finished when the plot meandered to its strange conclusion. There is a sequel to this book following more non-adventures of the two main characters. I haven't read it and I don't intend to. "
— Catherine, 1/25/2014" A thoroughly enjoyable read, and one that I would certainly recommend to women who prefer gentle reads. In fact, I might buy a copy to give to Grandma...I'm looking forward to continuing this series. "
— Leslie, 1/17/2014" A fun light read. I enjoyed it. "
— Lauren, 1/6/2014" It isn't very often that I find a book that I simply can't put down, but this was one. I read it in two sittings. I wish that I were as plucky as the main character, Penny Nichols. This was a charming read and I can't wait to move on to the sequel. "
— Gretchen, 1/5/2014" An amusing book by a first time author. Family drama but it involves things that happened years, even generations, ago. A relaxing read that was entertaining. "
— Carmen, 12/3/2013" This was an audio book narrated by Kathryn Kellgren and she is one of my favorite narrators. I'm sure a big reason that I enjoyed this book was due to Kathryn's narration pulling me into the story. "
— Jullie, 11/30/2013" A great read...easy, entertaining and enjoyable! "
— Laura, 11/25/2013" Not exactly chick lit but close. It's easy to read and fun! "
— Barbara, 11/24/2013" A fun read. Who doesn't fantasize about a surprise inheritance that changes their life? "
— Ronnie, 11/22/2013" I really liked this book. I love a book with good characters and a great love story. Just enough mystery and suspense to make it very enjoyable. I'll definitely read the next two books in this series. "
— Jennefer, 11/8/2013" A fun, fast read! A little bit of romance, a bit of mystery, all wrapped up with a sense of humor. Fun ending (won't give it away here). Great for a weekend get-away or beach book. Writing style is easy to read and moves along quickly. "
— Annette, 7/28/2013" Fun and witty. I think I enjoyed it more this second read. "
— Shannon, 7/13/2013" A fluffy "mystery" book (no murder, just family secrets)--- it takes a few chapters to find its rhythm, but when it does it becomes a fun and witty escapist read. "
— Jennifer, 6/12/2013" Just a fun, fluff book to read on a dull day. I liked it. "
— Marytess247cox.net, 10/25/2012" Cute, easy read. Had a fun plot, some language. Overall just a sweet romance/adventure. "
— Kim, 8/30/2012" Very light but enjoyable story! "
— Patti, 5/25/2012" Bought this when I was stuck in an airport. It was entertaining. "
— Jennifer, 1/22/2012" what a delightful book. There is romance, mystery and a wonderful ending. "
— Ellen, 12/11/2011" A fun, light read in which the heroine is an art history researcher! Some of the scenes (especially the romantic scenes) were a little choppy and less eloquently written, but it is a fun read. "
— Monica, 6/14/2011" This is a delightful read and I'm excited there are sequels. I would recommend this boom to my friend Julie, but she is the one who told me about it. "
— Ali, 6/9/2011" Cute and a little unpredictable so that was good. "
