"Jade and Tanner as earnest, yet flawed, Christians whose one night of passion leads them down rocky roads that change the course of their lives. Growing up on the "wrong side of the tracks," Jade had a loose mother and drunken father and no spiritual upbringing whatsoever. After her mother leaves them, Jade spends the rest of her sad childhood taking care of her alcolholic father and trying desperately to rise above her circumstances. In the meantime, her childhood playmate, Tanner Eastman, with a wealthy and cultured background, lives his life mostly as his parents expect him to, with one exception. He becomes a born-again Christian, something his overbearing and domineering mother cannot understand. When Jade and Tanner meet again as young adults, they realize how much they love each other and want to be together. Tanner leads Jade to Christ, and they make a commitment to each other and to God to stay pure until the time that they can marry, when Tanner finishes his law degree and Jade her nursing degree. But Christian young people have hormones, too, and a night of unbridled passion between the two of them changes things forever."

“As Christian beliefs war with a system that views strong convictions as suspect, Kingsbury offers a…‘love lost, love found’ plot, but her unusual legal twist makes for interesting developments. Purchase where demand for fact-based fiction is strong.”
— Library Journal" ITS WAS REALLY GOOD I WOULD SUGGEST IT TO EVERYONE "
— Jennifer, 2/11/2014" Long lost lovers...it's sweet. Everyone deserves a love like that. "
— Jan, 2/6/2014" real life "
— Connie, 1/31/2014" I've tried to read this book a couple of times. It starts really slow and is extremely frustrating to read for the first few chapters. It does get better and is touching and finishes well. "
— Angela, 1/27/2014" No one is perfect. "
— Angie, 1/24/2014" Hard book to rate since I love some parts and was annoyed with other parts. The most interesting part was the fight for religious freedom, which I found very enlightening and well written. "
— Trine, 1/21/2014" I loved this book when I first read it years ago. It was an example of how any action, any decision, could effect your life in ways you can't imagine. Kingsbury's books always have a strong moral compass at the center, which isn't a bad thing, but I have found that now, being older and more in touch with the world around me, I find her stories to simple and slightly cheesy. They are good simple reads but I often find the characters too right and honorable. Rarely are people that perfect. It is not a reflection of real life. Even when the characters are flawed they still seem to good to be true. "
— Amanda, 1/18/2014" 2nd in a series-excellent "

— Noran, 12/31/2013" This book was a really good read. I fell head over heels in love with Tanner. Sometimes the book drove me crazy, but it was so captivating that i couldn't but it down. It's a wonderful story about miscommunication, lost love and God's plan. It's a beautiful book. "
— Peyton, 11/29/2013" Another inspiring Karen Kingsbury book....... "
— Debbie, 11/28/2013" I read this for a DLS RA SIG on Christian/Religious/Inspirational Fiction. Lots of praying. Lots of hearing God. Lots of fear that the government is out to take away all of thier religious freedoms. While not remotely my religious, political, or moral beliefs, I found this surprisingly readable. "
— Bayneeta, 11/7/2013" Another great book from Karen Kingsbury! "
— Kathy, 10/27/2013" My mother handed this book down to me. It is essentially a love story with a higher concept attached. Easy reading. It will tickle the fancies of most readers of Christian Fiction. "

— Karen, 1/1/2013" This book was a really easy read - I read it in 2 days. I enjoyed it. It was very spiritual and I did not know it would be when I picked it out. Lots of references to the bible and Jesus, so if that would bother you don't read it. The story was good though and the ending was really good. "
