A forgotten secret. A shocking discovery. A sacrifice of love that will bring Connor Evans to his knees.
A story of hope and redemption from #1 New York Times bestselling author Karen Kingsbury.
Airline pilot Connor Evans and his wife, Michele, seem to be the perfect couple living what looks like a perfect life. Then a plane goes down in the Pacific Ocean. One of the casualties is Kiahna Siefert, a flight attendant Connor knew well. Too well. Kiahna’s will is very clear: before her seven-year-old son, Max, can be turned over to the state, he must spend the summer with the father he’s never met, the father who doesn’t know he exists: Connor Evans. Now will the presence of one lonely child and the truth he represents destroy Connor’s family? Or is it possible for healing and hope to appear in the shape of a seven-year-old boy?
“[Kingsbury’s] ability to accurately express life’s sorrows and grief through her characters’ inner dialogue rings true time and again.” —Publishers Weekly on Every Now & Then
“Her emotionally charged novels often contain a strong romantic component and feature Christians at odds with their everyday world. This title is no exception. Recommend this one to readers who enjoy well-drawn characters and contemporary settings.” —Library Journal on The Baxters Take Four

"One of the greatest books I've ever read and, despite reading it a couple of times, I know I will read this story again. It's a printed book I will never part with and I'd encourage everyone to read this story - women and men, alike. It really demonstrates the power God has to heal and repair relationships."

" This book was amazing. Anything by Karen Kingsbury is great but I really liked this book. If you are struggling with love and acceptance this is the read for you. Be ready for tears of joy. "
— Becky, 2/16/2014" I love the author, but this is just one of her books which are just not very good. The ending becomes pretty clear withing the first few chapters and all the time in between is spent wandering how much more shalow and cheesy the characters will get. Really annoying. Read some of her other books though, they are much much better. "
— Alice, 2/11/2014" This was a very good book about a woman and a mans journey of mistakes, faith and forgivness. And with being able to forgive someone always you to love them. "
— Mary, 2/3/2014" I had a really hard time reading this book. It was about a single mom trying to raise her young son. She was a flight attendant who wanted to be a doctor. One night she trusted a man to sleep on her couch 8 years prior. They ended up sleeping together. The man had told her that he lived in California and his wife in Florida. The 23 year old girl though that they were separated. After their night together the man went back to his family, a wife and two daugthers. He never spoke about the affair, or really the one night stand. Eight years later the woman had given up her dreams of being a doctor and was still working as a flight attendant. Her plane crashed. Her son went to stay with a family friend until they could figure out what to do. Never had the girl mentioned the boys father, until they found her will. The mother asked that the son spend two weeks his father and if the father did not want him that he send him back and he go up for adoption. The man had to tell his current wife about the affair and try to welcome his son. The current wife had alot of hurt, anger and resentment with the boy coming. It was a difficult situation all around. In the end it turned out great and the wife got over the affair and learned to look at the boy as one that lost his mother and not blame him for the mistakes her husband made. With God's grace she was able to forgive him and make a second chance for the little boy. He now had a real father, a new mom and two sisters. He even got to keep dog. "
