When the old woman died, she left each of her grandchildren something very special. For Kirby, the gift of dance. For Brendon, the gift of music. And for Nancy, the most extraordinary gift of all, the gift of magic. Nancy can read people’s minds, know their thoughts, and make them do what she wants. Will she use her gift for good, or satisfy her own selfish desire?

Lois Duncan presents a paranormal roller-coaster ride with goosebumps at every turn.

Quotes & Awards

  • A Gift of Magic has always been that most scalp-prickling of a work—even more striking because the book eschews the convention Duncan is best known for among teen readers…terrifying.”

    Jezebel.com

  • “This story is less about magic and much more about a teenage girl coping with the difficult and unwelcome changes in her life.”

    Children’s Literature
