Quotes & Awards

  • “Like a Groundhog Day for middle grade readers, Mass’ winning story features a girl seemingly trapped in her eleventh birthday…Girls will relate to Amanda’s insecurities, and the confidence and insights she gains will resonate with them. Mass’ expertise with pacing keeps the story moving at a lively clip, and her understanding of this age group is as finely honed as ever.”

    Publishers Weekly (starred review)

  • “From the double-entendre title to the solid character portrayals to the clarity and wit of the writing, this novel offers a fresh twist on the familiar themes of middle-grade family and school dynamics…A rewarding choice for readers and a natural for booktalks and discussion groups.”

" This book is about a girl named Amanda who shares a birthday with her friend Leo. For their 11th birthday though, they didn't celebrate. This causes their 11th birthday to repeat over & over until they work together to have time move on like normal. Anyway I really enjoyed this book because it was qwirky and fun, with a touch of friendship and teamwork mixed in. "

" I gave this book four stars because it was really good. But the way they were talking was to weird. If it was a movie just like the book, it would be bad acting. It was just too scripted. But otherwise the main plot was great. It was hilarious and I would definetely reccomend it. "

" Cute Groundhog Day-style story for children and middle grades. It's a 2013 Nene nominee but I don't really think it's anything special. Not that it's a bad book or poorly written; it's just not anything spectacular. I think both boys and girls will enjoy this book. "

One year they don't and they end up spending the same day over and over again until they can get it right. Fun summer read! "
