Robert Montgomery (1904–1981) was an Academy Award–nominated actor, director, and producer. He gained nationwide fame after his role in the 1930 film The Big House, and went on to star in several other films, including The Divorcee, When Ladies Meet, and Private Lives. He served as president of the Screen Actors Guild in 1935 and 1946, and was active in Republican politics. His daughter, Elizabeth Montgomery, was the star of the 1960s sitcom Bewitched. |
