Robert “Bobby” Barisford Brown is a Grammy Award–winning R&B singer-songwriter, occasional rapper, actor, and dancer. Brown began his career as a member of New Edition, which he founded along with childhood friend Michael Bivins. The group’s hits with Brown included the #1 “Candy Girl”, “Cool It Now”, and “Mr. Telephone Man.” Brown launched his solo career in 1987, going on to release five albums, one remix album, and a string of Top 10 Billboard hits, including the #1 Billboard Hot 100 Single “My Prerogative.” He is a pioneer of New Jack Swing music, a fusion of hip hop and R&B. |
