"Uncle Jack is my favorite character, but Primrose is as spunky as they come. In this companion novel to Everything on a Waffle, Primrose makes a news friend in Ked, a foster child, only to lose his unexpectedly. She tries to play matchmaker between her Uncle Jack and Mrs. Bowser, but that does not work out qe the way Primrose wants. And she remains close to Bert and Evie, her foster parents from the previous book. This story is like sitting on your front porch in a small town and watching all the happenings. The characters become your neighbors and you hope everything will turn out for the best for them. A delightful read for anyone who enjoys a good family story."

“Horvath skillfully balances the story’s light and dark moments, leaving readers with an ending both satisfying and honest.”
— Publishers Weekly (starred review)“Excellent fun surrounds nuggets of wisdom, making for a great read or read-aloud to be enjoyed on multiple levels.”
— School Library Journal (starred review)“The author delivers a gothic tragicomedy that is both a worthy sequel and as able as Primrose to stand on its own.”
— Kirkus Reviews (starred review)" Everything on a Waffle was better, but this was a respectable showing. "
— Amy, 2/20/2014" Book got boring and I could not finish. "
— Meghan, 2/15/2014" I loved Everything on a Waffle and this sequel/companion novel did not disappoint. I love a setting of a small town with quirky characters all in everybody's business and I love a feel good story with a feel good ending. I also love recipes full of cheese and flour and cream (and then some more cheese!), although I'm not so big on mini marshmallows. "
— Dana, 2/10/2014" A girl befriends a Foster child and their adventures in a small town. "
— Sue, 2/8/2014" This has been talked about as a Newbery cnadidate for 2013. For a long time I didn't think it was deep enough to really contend. And while it isn't rocketing in its social morals or dilemmas, it would certainly make any child in the Newbery age range think. I've only read 3 possible books and this one doesn't finish first in either depth or compelling read. But it is nice. "
— Patty, 2/6/2014" 3.5- There were some parts I really liked, and other parts that I wasn't a fan of. Good continuation of the first story. "
— Emyrose8, 1/31/2014" I loved "Everything On a Waffle" and was not disappointed by this companion book. Primrose is a great character and the book was a fun chance to revisit her. "
— Ellie, 1/25/2014" I loved Everything on a Waffle and this sequel/companion novel did not disappoint. I love a setting of a small town with quirky characters all in everybody's business and I love a feel good story with a feel good ending. I also love recipes full of cheese and flour and cream (and then some more cheese!), although I'm not so big on mini marshmallows. "
— Ms., 1/19/2014" I want Primrose to be real so we can have tea and chat... "
— Susan, 1/19/2014" It was great to read about Prinrose et al again, but I marked this down a star because the recipes weren't as good as on the first one. I blame the sudden addition of mini marshmallows. "
— Ann, 1/18/2014" A rather disappointing companion to Everything on a Waffle - while it's pleasant enough, it doesn't have much of a structure and wobbles tonally from whimsical to tragic. "
— Hayley, 12/19/2013" I loved Everything on a Waffle and was excited to see this companion book. I am enjoying it--love Primrose, Evie & Burt. So far, so good. "
— Connie, 12/15/2013" I love the way Horvath uses colorful, more sophisticated vocabulary for Primrose's voice. And the story was "good-enough." Connections toward the end were contrived, but I'd still recommend it to readers wanting a good realistic fiction story. "
— Lu, 11/7/2013" True to the characters from Everything on a Waffle? Yep! Fresh and original despite being a sequel? You bet! Publishes this fall. "
— Emily, 11/5/2013" I love Primrose. She's so spunky and exactly how I wish I could have been when I was little. Everything came together at the end, of course, and that made me happy. I read lots of chatter about this as a potential Newbery, and I have to say I like it best of the books I've read this year. "
— Allison, 9/3/2013" I found myself laughing aloud a lot during this book! I love primrose's perception of the world. I also cried. Polly is a favorite author. "
— Hillary, 8/27/2013" Extraordinary - funny, poignant, deeply profound - not just a sequel to Everything on a Waffle but so much deeper, richer, textured, layered! Primrose becomes an adventurer on a quest to establish who she is in the world and Ked - OMG - he's a fabulous character. Loved it to pieces! "
— Jeffrey, 10/23/2012" Just classic wonderful Polly Horvath. "
— Joanna, 10/3/2012" Aside from the slightly too precocious narrator, (a young Emma)this book was a delight. Laugh out loud funny. A great read-aloud. Would be as entertaining for the adult as the kid. "
