Sarah Bilston was born and raised in Suffolk, England. She attended University College London from 1991 to 1995, receiving a BA in English literature and an MA in Anglo-American literary relations. She attended Somerville College (Oxford University) from 1995 to 2000, and was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in 2000. Her thesis on representations of girlhood in Victorian women’s fiction became a book entitled The Awkward Age in Women’s Popular Fiction, 1850–1900: Girls and the Transition to Womanhood. In 2001 Bilston married and moved to Connecticut, where she now lives with her family. |
