J. D. Trout is an American philosopher of science, cognitive scientist, lecturer and nonfiction author. Since 1992 he has worked as a professor of philosophy at Loyola University Chicago, where he holds appointments in the philosophy department and the Parmly Sensory Sciences Institute. His research centers on the nature of scientific progress, and its influence on human understanding and well-being.
