Christopher Reeve (1952-2004) was an American actor, film director, producer, screenwriter, author and activist. He achieved early stardom for his acting achievements, especially his movie portrayal of fictional superhero Superman. An equestrian accident in 1995 that left him a quadriplegic also sparked his career in activism. He spent much of his adult life lobbying on behalf of other patients with spinal injuries and founded the Christopher Reeve Foundation and the Reeve-Irving Research Center to aid stem cell research. |
