Vernice “FlyGirl” Armour is a former captain in the United States Marine Corps and was recognized as America’s first African American female combat pilot by the Department of Defense. She flew a SuperCobra attack helicopter in the 2003 invasion of Iraq and served two tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom. She is now an inspirational leadership speaker widely featured in the media, including on The Oprah Winfrey Show, CNN, and NPR. Armour lives outside Washington, DC.
