Internationally best-selling author Jeffery Deaver delivers the latest sensational thriller in his wildly popular Kathryn Dance series. Newsweek calls Jeffery Deaver a suspense superstar, and in his new novel, he lives up to the accolades once again as he sets his heroine Kathryn Dance on a quest to stop an obsessive stalker from destroying a beautiful young country singer.

Kayleigh Towne is gorgeous with a voice that is taking her to the heights of the country pop charts. Her hit single Your Shadow puts her happily in the spotlight, until an innocent exchange with one of her fans leads Kayleigh into a dark and terrifying realm. The fan warns, I'm coming for you, and soon accidents happen and people close to Kayleigh die. Special Agent Kathryn Dance must use her considerable skills at investigation and body language analysis to stop the stalker - but before long she learns that, like many celebrities, Kayleigh has more than just one fan with a mission.

A former folksinger, Deaver has written the actual song Your Shadow. Listeners will be able to download it from his website, JefferyDeaver.com.

" OMG! Shark jump and you've-got-to-be-kidding-me on page 274. Did not suspect this pathetic turn at all. Must have chocolate before making the critical decision whether to close the book or finish it. Back in a few...................Finished the book and it was increasingly painful. Really, I am stunned that an accomplished writer I have enjoyed would close out a decent story with a million cheap little twists and turns. The X in the XO is going through Deaver's name. I'm done. I did learn one valuable lesson, however. Chocolate does not always make everything ok. "

" I love reading Jeffery Deaver. I wanted to be a forensics lab technician, but I never got a chance to. So, I ready about it and that's the next best thing. "

" I generally really like Deaver's books and was definitely disappointed in this one. It's about a young country singer who is being stalked. The plot twists are more messy than exciting and found myself thinking, oh, you've got to be kidding, when the plot would turn again. I was not surprised by the ending. I do highly recommend many of Deaver's other books but this one was so-so. I think a younger reader (young adult) may enjoy it more than I did. "

" Another excellent read by Deaver. So many twists and turns, I couldn't put this book down. "

" First of the Kathryn Dance novels I have read. Like her as a character. The novel reads well. Characters that you want to be involved with. Fast read. One day if you count staying up to 2 am to finish "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Julia | 1/13/2014

" Kathryn Dance is a expert In kinesics but she doesn't really have a lot to do with this in the book. Found it too detailed with the music information. Prefer his Lincoln Rhyme novels after reading 3 with this character in it "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Jeff Stern | 1/11/2014

" A little cheesy compared with Deaver's others but the suspense was still great and the twists were plentiful "

" A sleuthing marathon. A puzzle mystery. Totally agree with Jeff Ayers' (Associated Press) review that "XO" delivers more twists than a bag of pretzels. Kathryn Dance's toughest case, and Deaver's best book yet. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Anna | 12/28/2013

" Not my favorite Jeffery Deaver - I love most of his books, but this one just didn't grab me. Read about a quarter of it, then jumped to the last couple chapters. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Shawn | 12/11/2013

" Not as good as some of Deavers work, but still plenty of twist's. "

" Started great, got bored, skipped to the end. Ran into Lincoln Rhyme and then went back. Why does one character so come alive and the other just leaves me flat. - And the two guys who love and one of them is a little 'sparkly' -nooooooo. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Irene Slater | 10/30/2013

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Donna Kass | 6/17/2013

" This book had a lot of twists and turns, and frankly, some were a little unbelievable. The characters were a little stiff, and the introduction of Lincoln and Amelia for a couple of pages did not really make too much sense. Cool premise, though. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Pjhoward | 6/2/2013

" Good & suspenseful as per typical Deaver; however, in this particular novel the twists & turns started to get annoying. I typically never check how many pages left in a Deaver book but this time I did.... several times! "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Bill | 4/8/2013

" This was a really good twister. Just when you thought you knew the bad guy(s) you found out it might be someone else. Keeps you on your toes and turning pages. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Robin | 3/20/2013

" I'm just going to start calling 2 stars the "Meh" level of books. It filled the afternoon. The quality has gone down in Deaver's work and I think I pretty much just read this because I already read the other two and knew what I was getting. A decent enough mystery for when you are feeling sick. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 VickiLee | 12/17/2012

" The main character, Kathryn Dance, reads body language, but her skills are put to the test when she is investigating an over-zealous fan following a young singer. This was not a complex novel, and the plot meandered without much emotional investment on my part. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Amy Baker | 11/6/2012

" Full of the Deaver plot twists I love so much just couldn't relate to the lead character....although most would probably like it. I will say no more, worth a read :) "

" This was a great suspense novel centered around a beautiful young country singer and her obsessive stalker. It's up to her friend Kathryn Dance to save the day. Lots of twists and turns coupled with intriguing characters and great writing add up to a compelling story. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Erica M. | 7/29/2012

" A fair effort from Mr. Deaver who frankly has done better in the past. Good idea for a novel but the story was weighted down with too many slow and meandering sections. Some better editing was certainly in order here. "

" This is the first Jeffrey Deaver novel I've read that I didn't enjoy. The story seemed overly padded with boring and unnecessary details and I didn't really care much for the characters. Hope the next book is better... "
