Former Chicago lawyer Ben Holiday was proud and happy. And why not? The Magic Kingdom of Landover, which he ruled as High Lord, was finally at peace, and he and his wife, the sylph Willow, could watch their daughter Mistaya grow.

And grow she did - shooting through infancy in months, learning to walk and to swim in the same week.

Mistaya had been born a seedling, nourished by soils from Landover, Earth, and the fairy mists, come into being in the dank, misty deadness of the Deep Fell. With dazzling green eyes that cut to the soul, she was as lovely as her mother, and Ben wanted nothing more than to enjoy his daughter's childhood and his peaceful kingdom forever.

But his idyll was interrupted when Rydall, a king of lands beyond the fairy mist, assembled armies on Landover's border and threatened to invade unless Ben was able to defeat Rydall's seven champions.

Some counseled the High Lord to refuse Rydall's challenge, but Holiday could not, for Mistaya had been snatched from her guardians by foul magic. And Rydall held the key to her fate. Download and start listening now!

" A good, quick read. Fun, simplistic fantasy story - just make sure you have read the first four. "

" I liked it... but is anyone else beginning to feel like the Landover books are becoming cookie cutters of the first? I mean, how many times does Ben Holiday freaking have to find himself??? Does he just get lost that easily??? This book was a good attempt at breaking the 'Ben needs to find himself' cycle, but overall I was simply unimpressed. "

" I enjoyed this book, though I wanted to enjoy it more but just couldn't. I was not a very big fan of the Mistaya character. In all honesty, I wanted to strangle the precocious bitch. I also feel that a few of the characters did some uncharacteristic things towards the end of the book, and for that I was disappointed. Lastly, I felt the ending left too much left unanswered. This is the last book of the series and there were a few questions left that I felt required an explanation. "

" Last of the five in the series until the next one is released in a month. Pretty good series, they are working on a movie should be good. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Roxann | 1/25/2014

" Good stuff! =) This book definitely isn't as good as the Tangle Box, but it's still enjoyable. Even though this series is pretty old, I still want him to write another one that takes place a few years after Witche's Brew so Abernathy can be changed back to his normal self and marry Elizabeth! "

" This is the 5th book in the series and I really enjoyed it. I think it helped that I took a couple of months off from when I read the first four books. I read the first four books pretty close together and got sick of the characters. Now while reading the 5th book, it was fun to reconnect. "

" #5 in Landover series. Mistaya found out she had witches power. Nightshade taught her all about her skills and tried to get Mistaya to kill her own father. This was a very good one and I need to read the last in the series to find out how the ending plays out. "

" Still enjoying this series, always nice to have a little fantasy with a little humor on the side. Although this particular book seemed to have a little less in the department of laughable material. Fairly predictable but still entertaining. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Nancy | 10/27/2012

" Daughter of king kidnapped, faithful retainers sent to Earth, all live happily, not quite ever after because then there'd be no more books. What more could I ask? A food read. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Jonathan Lee | 9/30/2012

" The book finished strong, but most of the way through it was pretty tedious. Overall, this is a good series, but not great. I still prefer Shannara over Landover any day of the week. "

" Ben and Willow's daughter, Mistaya, matures with abnormal quickness and is kidnapped by the witch Nightshade. Meanwhile, Rydall, King of the Marnhull, challenges Ben for control of Landover. Abernathy and Questor Thews return to Earth, where Abernathy visits Elizabeth, now an attractive teenager. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Detective | 1/20/2011

" This 5th in Landover series was awesome. Mistaya accelerates both mentally & physically- reminds me of the *star child* of the *lizard aliens* from the TV series/movie "V" but loved the entire twisting/turns just when you don't thing there's anymore. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Tranylle | 8/9/2010

" I really enjoyed this book. There were a few parts that I was bored with, but for the most part it was great. I'm really happy Quester didn't end up dying, he's a great character and made a great sacrifice in this book. As did Abernathy. Very satisfying ending. "

" This book operates on the premise that a fairy child would grow quickly, which is reverse of all other 'fairy tales' that I have ever read.

That said, it is an engrossing tale of wickedness attempting to overtake and subvert that most precious of things - a childs love for its parents. "
