There have been a handful of historical eras that have marked our country's reckoning with race, and the coming post-Trump period appears destined to be remembered as another key one. The 2016 election results revealed what was only the tip of a much larger iceberg: America continues to be divided around race, and nowhere is that clearer than the divide that continues to persist within the Church.
All is not lost though. The waves of hostile rhetoric and open discrimination have shaken white Christians from every background, and many of them have embarked upon a sincere journey to understand and respond to the chronic problems of racism in America. Conversations around racial justice that used to be fringe within the American Church are now becoming centered in congregations across the country. As more white Christians move from apathetic to engaged, the need for resources is rapidly intensifying.
White Christians are hungry for more theology, so that they can find ways to think and talk about this with other Christians. They are hungry for more practical tools, so that they can improve at diagnosing their progress and charting out next steps. They are hungry for more stories, so that they can move out of the realm of theory and begin to apply these principles in concrete ways in their communities of influence. The End of Supremacy aims to be that resource that helps white Christians move into the next level of deep engagement with issues of racial justice.
