Charlotte is more than happy to offer her master her body, her blood, and her submission. But her mind is her own; if he really is listening in on her thoughts, he has to stop - right now!

As soon as Zachariah feeds from Charlotte's blood, he begins to hear her thoughts whispering in his mind. A rare blood bond forms between them, and Zachariah is thrilled. He's sure the bond and his new insights into Charlotte's mind will solve all their problems.

Charlotte was ready for her master's bite to hurt - she was looking forward to it. She thought she was ready for anything else too, but she wasn't ready to let her master into her mind. The bond isn't the solution to anything. The bond is the problem.

"Wow! The first book Dean Koontz wrote that sold well enough to allow him to write full time. Great characters that are well-developed, a strong sense of place and a genuine horror story that is all the scarier because there are no supernatural elements."

" This is one of the first books I ever read by Dean and though it might be a little twisted, it made me want to read more of his books. Definately recommend this one. I would really like to read it again but I have so many other books to read still. "

" Another SCORE for Koontz! This book had me on the edge of my seat almost from the first page! If you enjoy a thriller that will also have you checking your closets at night, then this one is for you. "

" I read this book a long time ago. What I remember is that is scared the begesus out of me. I had never read a book like that before and soon I was reading a lot of his books. All early works though. "

" I went into this book blind thinking it was going to be about something totally different than it turned out to be. The characters endure much suffering and I actually ended up feeling sorry for the "bad guy" in this book. Disturbing and twisted, but still a good read. "

" This book had me guessing throughout the whole thing. It's about a serial killer, and as he attacks this woman, she ends up killing him. BUT....a few days later, he's BACK! I won't tell you how, but it was very intriguing. "
