The brutal slaying of Boulder's controversial DA strikes deep in the heart of everything clinical psychologist Alan Gregory holds dear: after all, Gregory's wife Lauren worked for the dead man. But the bloodied body is just the first in a series of high-voltage incidents in a gripping story of crime and punishment, tragedy and retribution - and of human beings caught in the shattering cross fire of forces beyond their control...forces sometimes within themselves. " Another Allen Gregory mystery-a friend gave me both of them and thoroughly enjoyed them both! "

" I enjoy reading good murder mysteries where I can't tell whodunit ahead of time and found this book fit the bill quite well. This story of pychologist Alan Gregory's involvement in the case and the ethical dilemma he found himself in kept me entralled right to the end. The layers of intrigue were interesting and I was taken by surprise a couple times, right along with Gregory. I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes a good murder mystery, and I'm already looking for the other books by this author in my local library. "

" I really enjoyed this book. I read it after the 2012 Aurora, Colorado movie theater shooting occurred in July. There were some references to the Columbine Shooting of 1999. I liked that the story took place in both Boulder and Denver, mentioning several popular venues in Denver such as Elitches, Red Rocks, Union Station etc "

" Another winner from Stephen White! The end of the story took place in downtown Denver, which was fun to know exactly where it was he was talking about. "
