About the Authors

Tony Healey is the author of the bestselling Harper & Lane Series. He is also the author of westerns in the Ralph Compton Western Series. He lives with his wife and four daughters in Sussex, England, and is at work on his next novel.

Cassandra Campbell has won multiple Audie Awards, Earphones Awards, and the prestigious Odyssey Award for narration. She was been named a “Best Voice” by AudioFile magazine and in 2018 was inducted in Audible’s inaugural Narrator Hall of Fame.

Christina Thompson is the editor of The Harvard Review, a literary journal published by Houghton Library at Harvard University. Her memoir Come on Shore and We Will Kill and Eat You All, which was shortlisted for the 2009 NSW Premier’s Award and the 2010 William Saroyan International Prize for Writing. A dual citizen of the United States and Australia, she is the recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, Arts Victoria, and the Literature Board of the Australia Council. In 2015 she received one of 36 inaugural National Endowment for the Humanities Public Scholar Awards for this book. Her essays and reviews have appeared in a wide range of scholarly and popular publications, including Vogue, the American Scholar, the Journal of Pacific History, and three editions of Best Australian Essays. She writes regularly for the books pages of the Boston Globe.

Christina received her BA from Dartmouth College and her PhD from the University of Melbourne. From 1994 to 1998 she was editor of the Australian literary journal Meanjin. She teaches in the writing program at Harvard Summer School and Harvard University Extension, where she was awarded the James E. Conway Excellence in Teaching Award in 2008. She is married to Tauwhitu Parangi, a member of the Ngati Rehia hapu of the Nga Puhi tribe of Aotearoa (New Zealand), with whom she has three sons.

Cassandra Campbell, Audie Award–nominated narrator and winner of several Earphones Awards, has performed in regional theaters across the country and in several off-Broadway shows at the Public Theater and the Mint Theater. In addition to narrating audiobooks, acting, and directing, she is a commercial and documentary voice-over artist.

Tanya Eby is a novelist and an audiobook narrator who has earned several AudioFile Earphones Awards and been nominated for the Audie Award. She has a BA degree in English language and literature and an MFA in creative writing from the University of Southern Maine.

About the Narrators

Carol Monda is an Earphones Award–winning narrator and accomplished voice-over artist. She is also an award-winning actor known for her work in Out of Season, After You Left, and The Gentlemen.

Erin Bennett is an Earphones Award–winning narrator and a stage actress who played Carlie Roberts in the BBC radio drama Torchwood: Submission. She can be heard on several video games. Regional theater appearances include the Intiman, Pasadena Playhouse, Arizona Theatre Company, A Noise Within, Laguna Playhouse, and the Getty Villa. She trained at Boston University and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

Elisa Medhus, MD, is an accomplished physician who has practiced internal medicine for more than thirty years. She is also the award-winning author of Raising Children Who Think for Themselves, Raising Everyday Heroes, and Hearing Is Believing.

Laura Jennings graduated with an MFA in creative writing and has an intrinsic appreciation of the mechanisms and techniques which comprise the art of the tale. A skilled narrator, she is adept at analyzing the underlying moods and currents of a book and bringing these into her interpretation of the author’s work.

Mark Turetsky is an award-winning audiobook narrator and voice-over artist living in Brooklyn. In addition to audiobooks, he has voiced numerous commercials, video games, and online presentations. Turetsky is a graduate of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and holds a minor in English and American Literature. He was an AudioFile Best Voice for 2010 and 2013.

Tara Sands is an American actress, television host, and voice talent who has won numerous AudioFile Earphones Awards for narration. She is former cohost of Fridays on the Cartoon Network. In addition to performing in plays and musicals, her voice can be heard on numerous commercials, audiobooks, cartoons, and video games.

Xe Sands has more than a decade of experience bringing stories to life through narration, performance, and visual art, including recordings of the Nightwalkers series from Jaquelyn Frank. She has received several honors, including AudioFile Earphones Awards and a coveted Audie Award, and she was named Favorite Debut Romance Narrator of 2011 in the Romance Audiobooks poll.

J. A. Johnstone learned from the master, Uncle William W. Johnstone. He was the all-round assistant, typist, researcher, and fact checker to one of the most popular western authors of all time. The Loner marked the debut of Tennessee-based J. A. Johnstone as a solo author.
