Her only hope for survival....

Handsome, wealthy, and respected, Sir Mark Turner is the most sought-after bachelor in all of London - and he's known far and wide for his irreproachable character. But behind his virtuous reputation lies a passionate nature he keeps carefully in check... until he meets the beautiful Jessica Farleigh, the woman he's waited for all his life.

But Jessica is a courtesan, not the genteel lady Sir Mark believes. Desperate to be free of a life she despises, she seizes her chance when Mark's enemies make her an offer she can't refuse: seduce Mark and tarnish his good name, and a princely sum will be hers. Yet as she comes to know the man she's sworn to destroy, Jessica will be forced to choose between the future she needs... and the love she knows is impossible.

"A very good book. I really admire the way that Courtney Milan tackles unusual issues. I also liked the fact that the hero is blonde (why do they ALL have dark hair? Ok, I married a blonde.). The ending was a little short and pat, but it was a very compelling book overall. "

" Having just read this one I'm debating the wisdom of turning over the excellent written word, that came together in such an impressive way in my mind, to a narrator?? "

" A very pleasant surprise, this was a very well written book. I love finding new Historical romance authors, since I've already read everything that Lisa Kleypas has ever written. I'm looking forward to the next book. "

" The big sex scene -- which occurred halfway through the book was him masturbating. Frankly, I was so shocked by it that when someone interrupted me at a restaurant while I was reading, I dropped guacamole all over myself. That alone deserves four stars! "

" Raises the bar for historical romance novels. Innovative and engrossing, with a discussion of gender politics in Victorian England that still applies today. "
